Add an Extra OS on a Logical Drive

I have 4 partitions...1 with 7, and another with Vista. I want to put XP on also, but of course I can't create another primary. I'm pretty sure I can add XP on a logical, but don't know how.
Am I right, or am I out of luck with XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

First check for all the Win XP drivers for your hardware on the manufacturer's web site.

If your Win XP CD, does not support your Sata Controller, you will need to load drivers to uses at F6.
Load Sata Controller drivers with a floppy disk is the best way.

So I created two logical drives and installed Vista on one of them no problem(except that it can't find the network card).

Now when I try to install XP on the other logical drive I keep getting an error.
It seems like it is installing and then it will say, "Windows is Starting". A minute later I get an error that says, "Windows has been interrupted, please restart your computer".

It also doesn't give me an option to install XP on that extra logical drive. I'll try and do a little more research, but if you guys have any suggestions, I would definitely appreciate it.

Thanks

Does the XP boot to make it as far as the drives selection screen?

If not then it likely needs the SATA controller drivers added:
SATA Drivers - Load in Windows XP Setup on Dual Boot
SATA Drivers - Slipstream into Windows XP CD

No. It just starts with this blue screen that says installing Windows on the top left. On the bottom of the screen it says loading Sata, IEEE, Floppy...etc. Then it says starting Windows and that's when I get the error message.

Thanks

Check on Sony website for the Win XP Sata Controller drivers.

Will not load all makes of Sata Controllers.

OK, got it. Now what. During the installation process it doesn't allow me to choose my own drivers. Not even what Volume I want to install the OS on.

And a little off topic, I'm sure I could figure it out, but how do make Win 7 my default OS. It kind of gets annoying if I don't hit the arrow key down in the 3 seconds it gives me, it will automatically boot to Vista.

Thanks

Thanks for the links.

I think I may have figured out the problem. When it goes through the loading process, everything seems fine. When it says "Windows is starting", that's when I get the error message after a minute or so saying the system shut down due to an interruption. It also says make sure my HD is correctly formatted or has free space or some other stuff. It is trying to install on my primary drive. How do I install on my logical drive?

Thanks

Well I gave up. It never got to the screen of where I wanted to install XP. I think the problem may be due to trying to install an XP from an old desktop computer to a newer laptop. So I'm just using Virtual Box for XP and Vista on a dual boot. VB is kind of annoying though as it doesn't take up the whole screen. XP is about 1/3 of my screen size. Oh well.

Thanks for all the help.
