I hope this is the right section, I've never really used forums before. Anyways, I recently noticed that my PC is not being very cooperative, it's not letting me open installers, or uninstallers, some files it wont let me edit them or move them because I don't have permission. Some files wont even let me do things in them, or edit them. I am the admin of the PC, so this is obviously not right. I tried running a virus scan in comodo antivirus, but now it's messing up and not scanning when I want it to (This may or may not be related to the permission problem) So does anyone know what I should do? I'm seriously out of ideas on how to fix this.

Thanks! :p

Hello there!

On Windows 7 due to UAC restrictions what ever admin task you do you have to elevate it. i.e. You have to right click on the Program or Installer file and Run as administrator. Certain file you need to take ownership to rename to manage it. But don't do that for system file because there is a reason why those files are restricted.

Thanks for the reply :) however, when I run as admin I get this pop-up message: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" I don't really mess with system files, these are just some of my every day applications. Also, how would I go about taking ownership of it?

This doesn't appear to be a UAC issue from what the OP is describing. Once or twice here and there maybe, but not on this many things.

Try a System Restore to a point before the problem started.

Well, I download lots of stuff regularly, will I lose everything I downloaded after that restore point? If so, is there a way I can save them?
