need to buy a basic sound card for home use...

i want to buy a basic (less expensive) sound card....


basic needs:

1. want to record line in from my keyboard.
2. want to play line out from my external amplifier to two speakers.
3. want to voice chat from front mic port.



these are my basic needs.... plz suggest one sound card....

Well, I'd like to suggest something... but you are going to have to tell me a bit more on what you want.
Your current mobo can already do what you've asked me... so apparently you want a better quality than that which your mother board can do already... So what quality do you need? What will the eventual end product be?

thnk u for the reply dear..... can i record linein in win7 ?? i cudn't... and i cudn't get sound in the external speakers... nor, i cudn't able to chat with the front mic plugged in.... these three needs r perfectly working, whn i had winxp... :sarc:

That sounds like you haven't gotten into the software part of getting it to work.. yet.
See, your hardware should be able to do this. I'm not talking about any highlevel quality yet... but, for you to work with higher quality HW (and corresponding software) , you need to understand these basics anyway:

mmm.... i know the first one.... but im new to the 2nd... thanx a lot....

the next thing is... i've upgraded to audition cs5.5 (ver 4)... in that, whn i play audio, sometimes, the playback cursor is moving... but i cant hear the sound (this problem is not happening every time) so i assume its my board card issue... any help ???

Mmm, I'm not that into Audition. Try the tutorials, if that doesn't help I'll ask an Audtion user, here at SF to help...

Your on board card should be fine for normal-quality audio, similarly to XP. Just check your configurations through Control Panel's "Sound," and, if you have separate software that came with your motherboard for it, check that, too. Maybe when you upgraded to 7, that extra software never got reinstalled. I know I have a separate control program for my on board RealTek card. The audio devices will respond to changes from either Control Panel or this other program, but they may not work at all if it isn't installed.

NRT, I don't mean to be rude or unfriendly but... if you buy a card... or other software... you still have to spend the time to really understand how this works, through reading the tutorials, etc...
With a seperate card and its software, you could have the same issues you have now... so please.. take some time to read the tuts, understand them and first get the mobo with the realtek software to work.

when that's done... then you're ready to consider buying new stuff... in my humble and well meant opinion...
