ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Detection Issues

This problem is not unique to Windows 7, I had this issue when I was on XP aswell. Basically the computer can detect the monitor that is plugged in via DVI or HDMI but when I plug a monitor into the VGA output it says it is the same monitor as the one plugged in on the DVI output.

How can I get it to correctly detect the monitor on the VGA output. Currently I have an Acer P223W plugged in the DVI output and a Advent X19W plugged into the VGA output. When I plug the Advent X19W into the DVI output it functions correctly. I am also using a DVI to VGA converter.

HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!

EDIT: Also I have this problem with any combination of monitors I have and I have tried differant cables too!

Have you tried with one connected DVI and the other connected VGA, without using the adapter? From what I can find both monitors have both DVI and VGA inputs, so there shouldn't be any need for the adapter.

Also where is the adapter connected? If it is on the monitor's DVI port and using a VGA cable from the VGA port on the card, that is why it isn't working.

They are both connected via VGA on the back of the monitors. The one with the DVI adapter works perfectly it is the one that goes staraight in via VGA. I currently do not have a DVI cable.

But it isn't the DVI port I am having trouble with. It is the VGA output. The monitor on the DVI - VGA output detects fine it is the monitor that is on VGA. It won't detect it even if I disable the one that is working.

that is very odd, i have the same type of card, but mine detects both just won't push both for some odd reason

yeah because the card is sharing dvi and vga you must used either vga or dvi and and HDMI you can't use vga and dvi
