Unwanted added to mp3 track

Hi Peeps,

I down loaded an Mp3 music track the other day and on playing it through my WMP I noticed that someone had added a message about someones's blog! It's a couple of lines of text which I don't want.

I tried opening properties/details but couldn't find anything to delete, Anyone know how?

Apart from that...life should be simples!

I have some mp3s that act like yours, but I can't find them because of the above problem.

I'm speculating it's in the tag fields, probably in the "comment".

If you install a program such as MP3Tag you can examine the tag fields in this file you downloaded. You can also edit it and presumably remove the comment.

Or, you can do the same thing with Winamp. Its "file info" function is essentially a tag browser/editor as well, like from MP3Tag.

In fact most media player programs have tagfield browser functions. I suspect that's where this text is buried.

Speculating doesn't help much.

Usually, when someone wants to leave a message, it's more often a voiceover recorder over the actual audio stream that you actually hear through your speakers, and therefore cannot be removed, at least not easily without damaging the music in the background.

If it is just a tag-like message, and since we're talking about WMP, it's probably in the Comment tag, or extra tags that WMP doesn't usually display, like "Encoded with" or something like that.

If you noticed, I clearly explained further that [since I didn't have the file in my possession and therefore ANYTHING was pure speculation in the absence of more specific details and information or screenshots by the OP] I recommended actually installing MP3Tag and actually EXAMINING the tags for the file for himself... to look at all the tag fields and see exactly where that text was buried.

This would clearly ELIMINATE ALL SPECULATION of any kind as to what those "several lines of text" actually were, and also to be able to remove them.

I do think my suggestion was right on-topic, to-the-point, and quite helpful.

Right... although I don't see you've suggested any specific remedial course of action.

At least I pointed out two ways to do exactly what you are simply "speculating" about yourself... namely to use either (1) MP3TAG, or (2) Winamp, to actually examine the tag fields of the mysterious file for himself, and answer definitively for himself EXACTLY where this text is located, and also to delete it using either MP3Tag or Winamp.

Relax, dude, I meant nothing offensive

"Hidden" messages can only appear in two places, either as a voiceover or as a tag; this isn't speculation, it's a fact . Since the OP gave so little info, suggesting how to fix something we can't be sure IS the problem kinda is speculating. Speculation is sometimes good, but we need more info, so the point is not to waste time until the OP explains further

I can understand the "taking the extra step" kind of thing when helping somebody, but trust me, it's not always worth it.
