I'm ordering my third rig from cyberpowerpc.com and they have this graphics card that I've never heard of before but it's designed to stay cold as ice it's not just called a HIS Ice Qx graphics card but it's a modded version of
AMD Radeon HD 6790 1GB GDDR5 16X PCIe Video Card does anyone else have some info on these just wanted to know before I ordered also got a brand new 800 watt powersupply just for that graphics card and all the hardware in this rig.

I am not familiar with the specific card.
What I can offer from my personal experience is very mixed results with HIS cards in general.
Some of them have been awesome.
Others have been total nightmares.
I wouldn't mention it but the rate has been about 50% which is much poorer than just about any other card maker I have used over the years.

The 6790 is a good card but buying a 6850 over it is better coz the 6790 requires 2 6pins connectors which is unnecessary as well as performs slower than 6850. I was going to buy 6790 before but when i read the reviews so everyone agrees that the 6850 is a better product in terms of Performance, Size, 1 6pin, Price and Less Power Consumption. Idk how to explain it exactly but 6790 is made of some left over parts by the company and it though the HIS IceQ is a modified version which performs better than a stock 6790 and uses few less watts too. If you can increase the budget go for 6870 if not than 6850 all the way :)

Are you for real? Seriously? :sarc:

as well as performs slower than 6850.

I think you might have that a little arse-backwards there. No, it's completely arse-backwards.

There is no way in hell that a 6850 outperforms a 6970.

You do realise that the 6970 is AMD's flagship single GPU don't you? Any 'low yeild components' are not making it's way to the 6970.

I normally don't do this, but I'm sorry Boogie - that was bad advice mate.

If you are willing to wait about 6 months you can get in on the next gen card.
I have no intention of upgrading until then because for the moment, this machine, as old as it is getting still plays every single game I throw at it.
And with perhaps the exception of crysis 2 with the dx11 pack I max everything too.

The longevity of this machine is why I've lost faith in online benchmarks
This machine gets 4k more than it's supposedly capable of in the 3dmarks.
And this graphics card runs at higher frames than any online comparison I have seen would suggest.

Whoops. Thanks for pointing that out mate - I didn't notice the typo. Didn't even know there was a 6790 myself. I tend not to pay attention to lower end cards :o

All I saw was 2x6 pins unnecessary (still wrong :p ) and that a 6850 was better than a 6970.

So yes, a 6850 is better than the 6790 and these low end cards are made up from the 'lower binned' components that couldn't cut the mustard as a higher spec.

So in that regard, Boogie was spot on. Sorry Boogie :o
