removing software programs from older hard drive

I ran out of room on my C:\ drive and purchased a new hard drive. Using a software program, I was able to "mirror" everything from my older hard drive to my new hard drive. I am now booting from the new hard drive, thanks to this forum.

My question is this: I want to remove several programs from the old hard drive such as Dragon NaturallySpeaking, KnowBrainer and VoicePower among others. Obviously, I'm very much into speech recognition.

Should I reboot into the old hard drive and use the control panel to remove the programs?

Hi Trionalaw,

If you want to keep Windows on the old HDD, and just uninstall those programs, then the easiest solution is to unplug the new one, plug the old one back in, and boot into it, and uninstall as normal.

Thanks for the reply. Won't I have to reboot into the older HD to remove the programs using control panel. And if I do, I assume the programs on the newer HD (same ones being removed from older HD) will be still installed on the newer HD when I reboot using it??

I don't understand... unless the programs require a reboot, then simply booting once and then uninstalling will be enough.

If you mean, do you need to boot into the older HDD to remove them, then yes you do.

In answer to your other question, yes the new HDD will be completely unaffected. Effectively you have two installs of Windows now.

Have to admit, I was wondering that myself... I assumed there was a reason though.

I can't reboot using the older hard drive because of some password issues. If I format the drive, will it remove everything from it? That would be great. Now the big question: how do I go about formatting it? I have never formatted the hard drive.

To be honest, I don't even get to go anywhere without my parole officer.
