Blue Screen of Death

I close my laptop at night without shutting down and the past couple of mornings when I turn it on it says it had BSOD.

System specs are:

• 64 bit
• Windows 7 is original OS installed and came pre-installed
• I got the laptop 1 year and 1 month ago, but the problem has happened months ago, but more frequent recently

Hi Calvin614 welcome to SF

Please follow these steps in this order,

Uninstall and clean norton from your system using ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

Download and install mse Virus, Spyware & Malware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

Enable windows firewall.

Update the Intel Wireless Driver http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

Finish with the above steps and post back with ANY results.

Thank you for the reply. I have completed all the steps posted above. No more Norton or Symantec on my laptop, wireless driver updated, and firewall is enabled.

Just curious, what is the updated wireless driver going to do for me and was there anything wrong with the previous version or was it just outdated?

Outdated drivers in many cases cause bsod.

In your case this driver was old and the minidumps points it as the bsod source.

Did you had/have again any new bsod after finish with the above steps?

No, I have not had another BSOD since then. It has only been a few minutes though. Thanks for the help and I'll post again if it happens again!
