Custom Made Sig and Avatar [6]

Pallas, at the ages of my present sig, you will see a metallic background gradually fading ! It is just a rounded selection, changed feather radius to 50 or more, and filled with a pattern .

Later it is to delete the extra area of the pattern falling outside of the image area . Have a try ?

If you make the image large , save it large, and then resize the saved image to actual size, the corners will be smoother .

Yes, there is a feathering function in Photoshop Elements. Is it to smoothe ragged edges? Love your current avatar...and I think we've got the same pack of metal backgrounds (metal mesh pack by Axertion from Deviant Art, I think).

Metal packs are available? And others too I assume?

If it was made of wood, I would suggest sandpaper!
Looks good, jagged edges or not.

If the pat. file does not work when adding it to your imagine manipulating program's patterns, then you just use the PNG files. In Photoshop Elements (and in Photoshop too, I think), you simply open one of the tiny PNGs, then you go to "Edit" and then to "Define pattern..."; give the pattern a name, and the PNG can then be used as a pattern. Repeat the procedure with the other PNG files. In GIMP, you can simply select, drag and drop all the PNGs into GIMP's pattern folder (you'll have to check the GIMP website for the exact location), and then you can use the patterns. The pat. file does not seem to work properly with GIMP - it triggers an error message, and other users have complained about this. So in that case, you have to use the PNG files.

In PS, it is just to double click on it .... and it will be able to use in from Edit > Fill > Patterns . But in Corel Draw, I am not sure :sarc:

When I use a pattern in corel draw, I use any patterns those are large . Though the pat files opens with Corel draw by default, it dont do anything there, at least for me

when I double click Meta Metal patterns, it just opens Corel.

Maybe we should have a new stickyed thread for such discussions?

If you have PS installed, right click on the PAT file, choose properties, and change the open with option to photoshop . Now the double clicking will open photoshop . After creating a new layer, the option that I mentioned in the earlier post will be usable .

You don't need to use pattern fills in Corel or Photoshop, just search for a texture image online in any bitmap format Steel texture ... look for the ones that are higher res and use them instead, I find "pattern fills" are very hit and miss
