Windows 8 ISO mounter -- Backport to Win 7 ??

Hi all
I know that there are some 3rd party apps out there to mount ISO's and use as a native drive (very useful for example when you want to watch a DVD on a netbook that doesn't have DVD drives).

However it would be great to have this built in as standard in the OS --

I saw a sneak preview of the Windows 8 start menu and this feature will be directly available from this menu.

Could MS backport this to W7.

I suppose peeps will find a way. Ever since XP, MS has been grabbing freeware apps, and adding them into the OS. Firewall, anti-malware, unzipper, burning isos, now mounting (not to speak of pdf reader). Personally I'm not too impressed with the limited capabilities of these inbuilt apps- I'd much rather use superior FOSS or paid software.

While perhaps limited, many users just need the basic functionality and having to go grab all of these 3rd parts apps can be time consuming. For those who want the 3rd party apps, they are out there without a doubt. And these days nearly everything can be found free of charge which is most excellent.

personally, I don't know why MS has been so darn slow to add ISO Mounting. Other OS's have been doing it for 15+ years.
