I found this link through this site from another user..........Here......Which I created an icon I like. I also understand that all Icon designs need to be formatted in 259x256 pixels. But how do I save this pic to be formatted to Icon?

No, I want to know how I can do it my self. Does anyone know how to do this without using an online tool, or a program? Like from the tools on your computer.

You need a image editor to do it like Gimp, PhotoShop, Paint.net so it can be converted. And IcoFX

Thanks for that Danny, I for one found it useful. I have an icon on my desktop where I store loads of shortcuts to programs, I wanted to use something different for it and until you posted that link I didn't know how so was stuck with choosing from the regular ones.

I thought you were knowingly making a useless comment. In my post I even linked to the online Icon creator that I currently use. But thanks for trying to help anyway.

Gimp worked perfectly. As far as I know it will remain free, and you can create as many Icons as you want. I don't like the paint tools that come with it though. I ended up using W7 paint that came with it, and then copy->paste in Gimp.

I don't really like Gimp either. Have a look at Greenfish Icon Editor Pro. I haven't done much with it yet but it looks similar to IcoFx. Greenfish Software
