Windows Update Error

First time I've seen any issues when trying to use Windows Update. Every once in a while, I go in and manually check for updates. It's always worked fine, but today I received an error. I've tried over and over again, but no go. Anyone with any ideas? Running 7232 x64.

Try a repair, or go into Command (run as admin) and type "sfc/ scannow"

+1, I would also look to reset your Internet Explorer settings as WU uses IE (to an extent) to access the internet.

Make sure your AV isn't blocking it too

You bring up a good point. How are you doing the updates?
Are you doing them from IE? Another Browser? Or do you go to the built in Windows Updates utility and use that?

I'm sure i've read somwhere that even the built in WU uses settings from IE to access the Update server but don't quote me on that

Possible. I only ask because it may make a difference.
I don't know myself. Haha.

maybe 1 or 2... i've had a couple right after installing (7260). hardware specific drivers, so maybe thats normal.

Yeh I had a keyboard driver but nothing from MS. I didn't think we were expecting any.
Have the people who've stayed with the RC had any MS updates?

It could be that the service is disabled, or a service that search needs is off. you can check byryping services.msc in search. see if update is running and if it is check the other things depend are also running

Oh I know how fun it can be. I just think its hilarious people buy the Wii Fit to ********. LOL.

Anyways, I have had lots of updates myself. You guys should check that.

Did you try something as simple as rebooting then trying Windows Update?

This has fixed that problem for me everytime when it does happen which isn't very often.

I generally use FF but updates always go through IE8.

I was out for a while this afternoon, tried the update again and it worked just fine. No errors at all.

Go figure...not sure what it was. Maybe Windows server just temporarily not able to respond at that time?
