I've been using windows vista before and had played the sims 3 on it. It was fine until I'm now using windows 7 on Acer Aspire 4925 aged 1 and a half year. I tried to installed the game again but it pop out an Error box saying 'Error 1310. Error writing to file..bla..bla please verify that you have access to that directory'. SO i just push the button saying 'ignore', it started installing as usual, and I follow all the instruction. When I finally launch it it pop out again an error box saying 'could not locate [..\..\GameData][AssetsBuiltDir]
I had already tried:-
- re-installed (many times!)
- update the DirectX
- tried the Run...unreg thing...(for the Error 1310..)
- scanning the problem
- copying files manually..hehe:p
- installed in different files @ places

I notice it wont copy some of the files in Game Date...the custom music thing...I guess. Please help, I think it have anything to do woth my laptop and I really miss that game. Any reasonable suggestion will pleased me so much~:D

It was not resigned to run in Windows 7.
If you have the game installed, right click the icon for the game and select "Properties" then go to "Compatibility."
Then check the box that has "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows Vista or Windows XP SP3 and it should run without problems.

Hi, welcome to the forum :)

You may want to try right-clicking the setup file and selecting Run as Administrator. If you're getting read/write verification errors then it could be a permissions problem. Running as the hidden admin should solve this.

Hello, have you tried the all the sugestions mentioned above?
You might also try opening the DVD in Windows Explorer, find the install.exe,setup.exe, or something similar, right click on it and Run in Compatibility mode for Vista SP2 or XP SP3.

I'm not trying to insult peoples intelligence, but how can the OP install updates for a game that won't install?

When you attempt to install one of the products listed at the beginning of this article, you receive the following error message Error 1310. Error writing to file: file name. System error 1307. Verify that you have access to that directory.

where file name is the path and file name for a Microsoft Office file, for example: Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\WINNT\system32\C_1252.NLS. System error 1307. Verify that you have access to that directory.

-or-
Error 1310. Error writing to file: C:\WINNT\system32\FM20.DLL. System error 1307. Verify that you have access to that directory.

i know this link is for microsoft office, but the way to fix it is exactly the same as any file that won't install "Error 1310. Error writing to file" error message when you install Office 2000
