Europe won't pay more for Windows 7. Really!

better still a restitution on Vista since they sold it under false pretenses

How about some hard examples. Yes there are legiitimate issues with vista, BUT, all software has issues....7 will have issues, Linux has issues (that is a understatement), AIX has issues...ALL software has some issues.

This is what kills me most that people say....Yes I agree with you, Microsoft did state that vista would have this and that and..etc...etc but they didn't deliver on it. Did that hurt the company's image? Of course it did and instead of ignoring it, which they could have because of the fact that people will continue to use windows mostly no matter what....they decided to wrong their mistake and make good on their promise to deliver a quality OS release. My beef with that statement in general is that things in Linux distros and Apple OSs get promised all the time and might never get included (ex. Ubuntu devs said we would have stable wireless support back in Hardy Heron and it is still not on par even in Jaunty Jackelope). Does anyone make a huge fuss to them? No because people choose to blame the number one and let the others slide. Really folks no matter your situation with Microsoft, you have to acknowledge that even though they made a mistake they more than made up it up with Win7...now lets see another OS maker make those kinds of strides.

Edit: Just an example for Apple but....Apple's OS used to be 64-bit but now since they went to intel processors they are 32-bit:sarc: 64-bit will be added to Snow Leopard...and while we are on that subject...if you look at Snow Leopard doesn't that remind you of Windows 7? Snow Leopard is an optimized version of Leopard....and no one complained about how bad Leopard was....

Very true. With Linux however, Ubuntu's 9.04 release (jackelope I think) finally works with my network adapter on my laptop, but the big test is to see if it works on my desktop. Not a single Linux distro I have tested has worked on that yet.

Also, the reason Linux has a harder time with drivers is because they literally need to build them from the ground up, reverse engineer them kinda. I have a couple friends who are pretty good with Linux (really good) and they love it and don't like Windows a lot (too much corporate bulls**t and such, but I agree with some of it. LOL I kinda just always have the arbiters opinions.... :p).

I agree with your statement and I didn't mean to only pick on Linux (I edited my post so it doesn't seem that way) but I feel that if Microsoft should be scrutinized for their OS than the others you also be pointed out for their faults. Like I said in my edited post Apple and Microsoft are walking a parallel line right now and no one is saying anything to Apple are they?

the virtual monopoly argument.....
They are responsible for the most part for the functioning of almost anything computer related. As such there's a heavy burden on them to be absolutely spot on, the total world economy would selfdestruct immediately if windows where to BSOD all over the place.

In their position they need to be held against the strictest norms possible.

Heck, did you read about how the windowsbased stocktrade system failed and how they are scrambing to dump windows there?

They (MS) should be held to no different standards than any other company. Apple does the EXACT SAME THING by bundeling their browser and their software, but we ignore that.

Yea I know poeple gonna cry unfair competition, monopoly....if Apple/Linux/Opera/Mozilla/Netscape/FireFox whoever cant copmpete technically, they shiould die off instead of crying that their being treated unfair.

Yea I am a hard core capitalist, I believe giving the competitition no breaks.

Thats because M$ is the bigger company. They have the larger market share, and much more scrutiny. If they were the size of Apple, and Apple was M$'s size, it would be them that gets the criticism.

Then based upon that I wouldn't blame Microsoft if they closed their doors tomorrow....How can Microsoft remain competitive if they are held to certain standards if other companies are not? To me it would seem that other companies have the monopoly over Microsoft....They can go on as they please with little to no scrutiny while Microsoft has a magnifying glass pointed to them at all times. The reason we have fair competition is to keep prices fair and to have the quality of products at an acceptable level...not to have a lame duck company forced to put out software to certain company based norms while letting supposed "underdogs" walk on by without any notice. Just what kind of market is that?

He was joking(?). And yeah I guess, free speech. But those are insulting terms, whereas M$ is just a different abreviation. I could use AP for Apple or LX for linux. Its just that people don't know them.
