The sad thing is he must of known cause he died less then a month after he announced he was giving up the reigns to someone else

I heard about it on Windows Seven Forums viewed on my iPad. I called to tell some friends from my iPhone.

If not for my first Mac, I would never have gotten into computers. I joined the "Cult of Mac" when OS X first hit the market. The first computer I ever bought for myself was a G4 PowerMac that is still being used to build web sites to this day. I bought it along side my first generation iPod.

I can't help but feel the sarcasm on this post for some reason. While I do agree that it was indeed shocking (I never expected this), I'm not really that sad, however.

For one, he started the great debate of functionality vs brain-washing vs eye-candy.

But there's no room for that now.

All I can say is this: Condolences for the man who built a great empire that shook the foundations of the technological world. While he has his negatives, I appreciate him for creating the competition necessary for the companies that I love to wake-up and improve their products.

You have been a great man, Steve Jobs.

Sadness and compassion are relative, Britton.

I have soldiers who get injured (puny to fatal) everyday as part of the job. Do people realize that? How much does the compassion extend- just feel it or actually help the injured go over it? (Point being you can't feel sorry for everyone).

Am I to pretend to be a hypocrite on the matter? While I did not show 'compassion', I did show my respect which is required to be shown to everyone, and this man is someone who truly deserves the respect of everyone.
