I'm looking for Opinions on free burning software

I'm looking for something that's close to KB3 or Nero as I prefer that kinda setup. I was using Linux, and just decided that even if some of it was for me, not ALL of it was for me yet. That being said, I've formatted the Linux partition for now, and I'm looking for alternatives to one of those programs.

Thanks guys and gals for the input.

+1 for ImgBurn

Since looking for something similar to Nero, have you tried Nero Lite?
Its free, but just a basic stripped down version of the full (paid) version.

I use Imgburn myself. I find it more versatile to keep burning and converting separate. This site has tons of tools both free and paid for burning, converting, muxing both video and audio. Also lots of info on players and their capabilities:

VideoHelp.com - Forum, Guides, Tools and hardware lists

Plus they store old versions of multimedia apps. You can still get converters and other utilities that haven't been developed for years.

Strictly for CD burning, I'll say +100 for ImgBurn. (It's that good.) :)

Nero is more of a full-featured suite with audio/video editing, transcoding, DVD authoring etc. etc.

Like most I started out with Nero. But after awhile it starts pushing you to do it the way it wants. Not how you want. That's why I suggested separate tools. Even with separate tools there are some pretty good Gui front ends for free software that make the conversion fairly painless. Some are better than others. There's too many different video sources now to put everything through one tool.

Windows 7 - I'm looking for Opinions on free burning software

DVD Author Plus is totally free, easy to use and works perfectly. You can backup to ISO, copy DVD to DVD and burn ISO files. It will also burn video DVDs from your video files with a drag-and-drop interface. Download here:

If the OP would give more details what the goal is that may save a lot of guessing. There's burning CD,VCD,SVCD,DVD,Blu-Ray, data discs, video formats. The question is pretty vague. Imgburn will burn all those formats. But it won't convert for you. Also I'm curious what kb3 is. I haven't found it in any search.

edit: Ok, I see it now:

For CD burning CDBurnerXP is probably the easiest. I haven't done Nero since 6.x so I'll let a user of the more recent versions speak about it.
