I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and its a full retail version. The hardware is less than six months old, as well as the OS installation, but I just reformatted and installed again hoping it might help (alas: it didn't).
This is the first time I've encountered this issue, and I haven't recently changed/added/removed any hardware except for adding RAM a little more than a month ago. It started while I was in Team Fortress 2, and gave me the "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_ OR_EQUAL" error on the BSOD. When restarting, I got a screen that listed a bunch of my system info and at the bottom said checksum bad error (something like that). So I tried a suggestion I saw online of changing the onboard battery as it may have gone out. That didn't seem to work either: so I reformatted.
I've attached the files to this thread. This is my most desperate hour... Help me windows seven forums, you're my only hope.

No DMP files included in upload try this method

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I setup the minidump file as instructed, but it was empty already. So I tried getting it to crash again: this time all I got was a blue screen with no data on it. So after rebooting again, I went into safe mode to see if it had performed the minidump but the folder is still empty. Did I miss something or should I just keep trying to get it to crash?

Also forgot to list some of my specs:

Do you have a page file on the same HD as the OS?

Do you have a reg cleaner running?

Not sure about a page file (I'm OK with computers, just not sure what it is :p) Only one 1TB HD installed, though.
And no, no reg cleaners that I know of as this is a fresh reformat of Windows as of yesterday.

I definitely set up the minidump as per directed, but it was still empty after I did the process (and after crashing again). I'll try to get the error again though.

EDIT: so I can't get a BSOD for some reason now. When my system crashes: it simply shows a frozen screen (and kills my ears with headphones on). Also, still no data getting put into the c:/windows/minidump folder. I know without that file you guys can't give much help, so I'll keep trying to get it to work.

I just found a .DMP file by searching my windows folder. There is a memory.DMP in C:/windows, could that be it? Its rather large (600mb).

Here is the zip with it just in case it is what I've been looking for:http://raelliott.com/uploads/Documents.rar

If the control panel is not configured correctly that is where they end up. They overwrite every crash so there is no pattern. May take a while to download

Be right back

Sorry but that DMP is corrupt. No usable information.

Have you checked in event viewer to see if the crashes are lodged?

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Event viewer (local) and look for the critical errors listed in the last day, week, etc. Then go to the windows log>application tab. Finally the windows Logs>system tabs.

You want to look for all errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for all errors that say that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

there is 4 of these in the last 24 hours.

Those are just saying the computer didnt shut down correctly because it crashed or was forced quit. They dont mean anything (or more correctly much). You need to look for something that refers to the BSOD's that are obviously happening but not being written

I've stopped getting BSOD altogether and now my system either freezes the screen or goes black. The last time I rebooted it suggested doing windows startup repair so I let that go for awhile. I also looked up the first error and tried to find a solution myself, so I tried doing a chkdsk on my hard drive but that didn't seem to help either. Is it something driver related or hardware issues?

Could be either. when you did the chkdsk did you use the "F" switch?

two more things you can try

Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

Read here for more information http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Let us know the results from the report at the end.

Second driver verifier

I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Here's the CBS log:

I couldn't tell if it helped or not (I'm guessing its just meant for creating a log?) but it said that no issues were found, or something to that effect. I did the second part and am now stress testing my computer.

In regards to the chkdsk: I don't think I did. I just kind of went with the prompts and got it going.

Ok it just crashed to blue screen, and at the bottom it says Collecting data for crash dump... But it's been on that for the last five minutes. I waited an additional 20 minutes, and then forced shutdown. Took a little while to get it to reboot successfully, but when it did I went into safe mode w/networking and still no log. I'm really at a loss as to what to do next, I don't have money/resources to try and swap hardware out and see if one of them is the cause, so all I can do is make sure whether or not it is a driver or system file issue. Any useful info in the cbs log?

Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Still getting crashes and games seem to have taken a 50% fps hit too. I'm going to try testing my RAM with Memtest and see if that's it. Really I'm just posting in here now because if I find a solution myself others with this issue can fix it, because this thread fell back into page 4, so my chances of further help seem small. BUT I will gladly accept further help if anyone has any ideas :p
