I can do anything in the Programs/"All Users" directory for this: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/296-start-menu-all-programs-add-delete-shortcuts.html , save create a folder with any name other than the Windows assigned default, "New Folder," "New Folder (2)," etc I've followed the instructions but still can't create any folder without the default name without getting the error saying that the folder just create/dragged-in/copied and pasted isn't busy.

Seems like a permission or a protection issue to me but I've had 7 installed for all of an hour at this point. Installers have no trouble (I've installed the Norton 360 beta, for example, just to have AV protection) so I'm kinda stumpped. Just my luck, I'm an anal-type that has to have my Start menu organized.

Hello RunnerOne, and welcome to Seven Forums.

See if doing this tutorial below can help you. It is the same inWindows 7 as Vista.

New Folder - Vista Forums

If not, then try the free program Unlocker on the New Folder to see if you may be able to rename it afterwards.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Can you type out exactly what you are doing, step by step so we can re-create and then see what we can do?
Thanks

I have the same problem. Win7x64 RTM.
The problem is with the NEW save as dialog, if using Word 2007 or any other app that uses the new dialog it happens. On older apps foe example polyedit (polyedit.com) that use the old save as dialog it DOES NOT HAPPEN.
As follows:, example with word
Save as
Dialog opens
Create new folder, folder appears ready to input name
write new name, enter
folder appears as "new folder", "new folder 2"
it wont "take" the name
if i right click on it in the RIGHT pane and try to rename the same happens it does not "take"
IF I RIGHT CLICK ON IT IN THE LEFE OR TREE PANE AND RENAME, THE NAME TAKES OK BUT I HAVE TO CLIK ON OTHER FOLDER AND THEN ON THE NEW RENAMED ONE TO BE ABLE TO SAVE
