win7 wouldn't go past welcome screen after installing a windows 8 skin

I installed 8skin 8.0 and restated the computer. THe package included several softwares like Universal Theme Patcher and Win7BootUpdater etc... (for full list see: 8 Skin Pack 8.0-X86 by ~hameddanger on deviantART)
After i restarted , It wouldnt go past the welcome screen. There is a black screen with the cursor and it keeps flashing. I am able to go into the safe mode though.
Here are the things I have tried:
1. Uninstalled the skin(from safe mode). Dint help
2. I booted from win 7 cd and did a startup repair. It dint help
3. There were no restore points.
4.I have no restore disk.
5. I ran chkdsk. no use
6. Ran sfc /scannow from both from safe mode and from win7 disk. i ran it as administrator . At 14% It said " windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation".
What do I do? Please help.

Sounds like you don't really have a startup problem, because if you can get to the Welcome screen, then that means that the problem lies in winlogon or something like that. Also, if you're able to, try to change the theme, rather than just uninstalling that pack. Also, from what I understand, in worst case scenario, you can operate out of Safe Mode all day.

Thanks the Clean Startup worked. It was due to one of the 2 services- unsigned themes and winstep. After stopping the srvices from msconfig, everything went back to normal.
I have an out of topic question. I have installed almost all the softwares and Games in F drive. If my os in C drive crashed and if i had to do a fresh install, would these games/softwares still work in the newly installed OS?

My usual disclaimer: I'm not an expert at anything! If the F: drive is a separate partition on the main C: drive you could run into some problems with partition sizing or other quirks with the OS install process. I think it's better to have the F: drive as a separate hard drive all to itself. If that's how you have it set up (as a separate hard drive) you should have no problems reformatting/reinstalling the OS. If it's a separate partition I'd strongly recommend making periodic System Images of the entire hard drive. This tutorial explains how using the built in Windows 7 imaging tool.

Other free imaging software that offers more flexibility than the 7 imaging tool are Macrium Reflect, Paragon, and EaseUS.

I think i have to be more clear.
C: and F: are partitions in the same hard disk.
I have around 50 large games occupying 350 GB installed on F: drive.
my C: is a 50 GB drive with only the OS on it. I install all my softwares on f: drive.

So, in the future if I have no choice but to delete the existing OS on C: and do a fresh install of the same on C:, would the games and apps on the F: drive work? Or do I have to install/reinstall all of them again? Please clarify

So , are u suggesting i take an image backup of my current C: and, when later after i do a fresh install, restore this image? Im not clear on this point.

The answer is that some games will play without reinstall when simply run from their .exe, others require reinstall as all programs should be.

It's always best to put the programs on the System partition since most write registry keys which integrate them into the System. So they should travel with the System image, while User folders can more easily be stored on a separate partition: User Folders - Change Default Location
