Hello there,

You said that you have setup a Fax account? Is this a fax mailbox in Exchange? Or do you have the faxes going to a Distribution group?

HI Dave,

client is 64-bit win7 pro

windows fax and scan starts and i've set up the fax account to connect with the SBS2003 server using \\servername

it attaches just fine as the sent items box shows faxes which have been sent.

however, the inbox showing received faxes is empty (just the original welcome to windows fax and scan). But I know for a fact that there are faxes in the inbox.

i'm disconnected it and reconnected it a number of times and checked to see that the specific user has full access to all the fax related folders on the server.

Other users (using 32-bit vista pro) don't have any problems.

I'm just wondering if i've messed something up permissions wise or if there is a reg entry that needs adjusting.

any pointers most welcome as it's really starting to tick me off now

cheers

You shouldn't have to change anything in the registry for this to work.

I would remove the users permissions on the mailbox and then re-apply them. Bare in mind that you will have to apply the Security permissions in the Security tab on the active directory user account and set permissions in the Mailbox permission on the user account.

Thanks for the response Dave. Much appreciated.

however, faxes are routed to a shared folder so i'm guessing you're advising remove the permissions for this particular user to that shared folder and then reapply them?

or am i reading this wrong. Sorry for the dense set of questions.

cheers

No problem, yes I would remove the permissions and then re-add them for the folder.

If that doesnt work, log on as another user on the Windows 7 PC (One that you know works) and see if you can access the faxes folder from that account.

i logged on with an administrator account and that exhibits the same problems. inside windows fax and scan it says that the fax acounts are online and I can see the sent items but nothing in the inbox.

i have a feeling its something to do with the 64-bit client but can't figure out what.

thanks

Rich

After reading other forums it looks like x64 fax driver is not available on SBS2003...

See:
SBS 2003 Fax Client inop with Win 7 x64

:(

Dave

kind started to get to that conclusion too. gaping hole. oh well. thanks for the assistance. looks like i'll just have to give them direct access to the fax inbox and hope they can use that instead.

Your best bet is to setup the fax client to email as well as copy to a shared folder.
