I have been having some trouble with File Sharing today. I have been working on setting up my media center with XBMC. All of the media and data is stored on a home server. A large percentage of the time when I try to start a movie or something, my computer will "disconnect" from the server. It will try for several seconds and then fail, or if I tell Samba (on the server) to terminate the connection. I have tried using another computer (a laptop) and it works fine, even when the trouble computer will not work. Because of this, I do not believe it is a server-sided issue. I can also browse the folders just fine until it "disconnects". The strange thing is that when this happens and until it fails, the Computer and Network folders won't load.
Additional note: I tried the FTP option in XBMC. It may or may not have worked. It seems as if it didn't on one try.
I also had a few BSODs earlier today that happened when I was using Ember Multimedia Manager and XBMC to manage the media on the server. I tried a System Restore and then a Windows Update which hasn't helped the File Sharing issues, but it has not BSOD'd since. Unfortunately, the Restore cleared the BSOD dumps, so I don't have the full dump, but I did do Google on the error beforehand and it found this which has pretty much the same error and in the same place.
Does anyone have some advice for me to try in order to fix this before I try the 24-hour process of Driver Verification suggested in before-linked thread?
I hate computers sometimes.
Anyway, any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated.
