I have been having this problem for a good six months now and ive searched all the forums trying many solutions and having none of them help. I have a custom made pc with components totalling up to around £1000 as shown below.

Asus Crosshair IV Extreme AMD 890FX (Socket AM3/AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard/

HIS ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card/

AMD Phenom II X6 Six Core 1100T Black Edition 3.30GHz (Socket AM3)/

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - Retail (GFC-00025)/

Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case/

Cooler Master GX 650W '80 Plus' Power Supply/
OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low-Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3G1333LV4GK)/

LG GH24NS50 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) -

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD1002FAEX)

Whether its watching a video, on facebook or playing a game the computer screen freezes and becomes completely unresponsive and the only way to get the computer working again is to restart it.

Here is the event data shown in eventviewer.

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

It is almost impossible to spot trends from a single DMP file so if you have m ore than one please upload them. If you only have one please wait until the computer crashes again then upload both.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

It is not a BSOD issue, its a freeze where i have to restart the pc manually, it doesnt reboot itself. And sometimes when this freeze happens the sound clip loops making unpleasant noise

My apologies

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Event viewer (local) and look for errors listed in the last day, week, etc. Then go to the windows log>application tab. Finally the windows Logs>system tabs.

You want to look for all errors (they have red in the left column ).

When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.
