Hi,
I have bought a laptop recently and was trying to update the driver of graphic card which is ATI Radeon HD 5730, AMD site suggests an utility and after installing with the utility you can start dowload, well I tried to download the driver several times but it stops at about 30 MB everytime (98 MB total size), when I tried to update the driver from device manager it tells that the graphic card does not need the update, but I am sure it needs as that is not the latest driver I have. So does anybody know what can be the problem, and what is probably solution to this? Is there a way or place to download Catalyst drivers using download manager other than AMD's download utility?
Thank you.

Man, if you read carefully I already wrote I tried to do that from official site, and after selecting model and OS they suggest you an utility, it is a kind of AMD dowlnoad manager which downloads the driver you have selected. I tried the Asus support site which offers AMD Graphic and INF update driver for my laptop model, but i am not sure if it is the thing I need.

Yes, this is the site I already visited, and as you can see they do not offer driver itself, but only an utility to download it which is 1,2 MB.

Ok you must see this files
for you the installer will locate them in C:\AMD\Catalyst_Mobility_64-Bit_Util

And if you click ATIMCDnld.MSI what happens then can you make a screen shot ?

Right now I am on my desktop, I tried Catalyst Mobility.exe, but I am not sure about trying ATIMCDnld.MSI, since it is an installer program and will start directly to install the driver, and I am afraid if something happens in the middle of the process it will crash my system. Anyway to run it I have to switch to my laptop, just to keep it safe I try to do all downloads to my desktop first.

But what about Catalyst Mobility.exe, isn't it safer, as it first downloads the file to Temporary folder and then you can install the driver anytime. I think I will not risk and use the installer, catalyst mobilility.exe is also supposed to be used for driver update, so ATIMCDnld.MSI is not the only MUST. And i think i need to run ATIMCDnld.MSI on my laptop not desktop right?

I already have the Catalyst Package Suite on my laptop, but I already said I am not to run the ATIMCDnld.MSI, since it is a setup program, and will try directly to download the drivers to my laptop via internet, I am sure the installer will start but what if it stops in the middle of installation, won't it be something like ejecting CD in the middle of installation of a program, and I am afraid it will cause me more problems then.

Hi alberttm,

I believe if you go to the link posted above by GianniDPC again and switch to the middle tab (click on Individual Downloads), then you'll be able to download the full Catalyst package rather than the small 1.2MB "suite", which I think really is a misleading term here.

The full installer is 89.7MB in size.

And, to be honest, I'd be a bit weary about directly running the .msi file too, simply because you might end up with some kind of partial install.

That is what I tried to explain, I don't want to get stuck in the middle of installation of the driver itself. To get stuck in the middle of download is not as risky, well I would say not risky at all.
Is that really driver or amd utility to control graphic cards settings, properties etc.?

I understand why you would think that - AMD designed this download page poorly. But the fact that no other download is offered that's clearly marked as the actual driver, and the size of the CCC setup, lead me to believe the driver is already included.

It's worth a try at any rate.

Just go to the middle tab from the driver I suggested and try that one that should be the driver and The Catalyst control center
It's like corazon said It's worth a try .
