Solved ATI Catalyst Download Stops at 32 MB

Yes, that is what I was looking for, the driver package that is to be installed using Download Manager, so if link is broken I can continue download anytime later. And i can safely download it to any PC and do not want to risk my laptop as i try to keep it clean of any partial installation, supecious programs etc.

Thank you. And that download stops when I use utility is probably a connection problem as it frequently swtiches between, HSDPA and WDMCIA, don't know what that means but I see it constantly changing during my connection. I hope with Download manager that won't be problem.

Wow, that tells me you're using a mobile 3G broadband connection...and in a somewhat unreliable area, apparently.

Thank you, just downloaded the file, the speed was good )) this time up to 3Mb/s, used Orbit Downloader, now will move the file to laptop, and run it.

I open the device manager, video adapters, select Update drivers manually from this computer, browse the driver way, but it tells me the driver does not need to update, however the driver is 2010 year driver. Should i just run the .exe file I downloaded?

Recently i also did update Windows and stuck with the last two updates which are .Net framework and SP1, now it tells me Windows see no need to update the graphic card driver, does this mean that the current graphic card driver is up to date with OS, I mean the 2010 graphic card driver is just OK for the OS I have, and updating just the video driver won't do any good unless I fully update the OS.

Yes, run the .exe file. Don't bother with the driver manager in Windows.

What it's telling you is that the basic driver which is part of Microsoft's driver database is the latest one available and doesn't need updating. It's not taking the actual full driver package as provided by AMD into account. So don't let it confuse you.

OK will do that, but will that do any good to me, or in other words should i just leave installation for now unless any problems occur, as for the moment the current driver is OK. The laptop was bought 1 year ago and wasn't used since then, it has been one week i am using it, and wanted to update all I can, is this right way, or should I postpone updates unless problems with drivers start to occur?

If you're only using your laptop for basic office work and simple desktop apps, browsing, etc. then the Windows-provided driver will be fine. But it's rather generic and doesn't make full use of your Radeon's true capabilities.

As soon as you start using anything 3D (typically games or 3D graphics/modeling software), you'll need the AMD Catalyst package.

The choice is yours - but installing the AMD driver is generally a very minimal risk. For added safety, you might create a manual restore point using System Restore before starting the installation.

EDIT: yes, the AMD package will take care of removing/replacing the existing driver.

I run the .exe file it extracted files to C/Ati ..., then installation manager started, it suggest to install the programs to C/program files/ATI technologies folder, but my previous version was in C/program files(x86)/ATI technologies, anyway i installed the driver package, but when open device manager adapter driver still shows 2010 version, is this OK?

What changed is instead of Catalyst control centre I have AMD vision control centre now, did actually the driver updated?

Were you prompted to reboot? If not, do it anyway - then check the driver version rather than the date.

Was not prompted to reboot, but did it immediately after successful installation, version is 8.722.0.0, the same it was before, or is it actually the latest version, and 11.11 update meant only to update those AMD control utilities?

How can it be checked if it is the latest version available or not?

Ok to check if everything is installed do you have the AMD Catalyst Control Center if you right-click your desktop ?

Yes, I had AMD Catalyst Control Center, before and now instead of it, it is AMD Vision Engine Control centre which seems to have the same functionality.
