I have a desktop with Intel i5 2nd generation processor. But I have a weak graphics card called ATI Radeon HD 6250 which I discovered that it isn't great for gaming. I thought that 1GB VGA will be sufficient but I wasn't aware about the APU in VGAs. I have bought two ATI products and I am not happy with it. I am planning to move on to nVidia. People suggest me 540m but I am not great with graphics card since there are loads of models with variety of specs. Please someone help me with finding a decent nVidia card that is around $50 to $100. Thanks!

The nvidia gts450 can be had for around $100, or if you watch the deals a gtx550. Either of those would be decent.

Not going to find a 560TI in the $50 to $100 price range though. A 560 ti will put you around $220.

Looking at the acer site is this a laptop, if it is then i am sure you cant update the GPU there are only a few that it can be done in and they are expensive if you can find one.

Just a recap...

By "Reading" the post, one would determine that the OP has an i5 desktop that he would like to buy a new video card for. He is unhappy with ATI and would like to spend between $50-$100 on an Nvidia video card.

I have a laptop but I got a desktop PC with decent hardware just for daily use and gaming. I still use my laptop since I study, my younger brother uses the desktop. I searched some graphics card on the internet for a nice price but the power consumption was over 500W!. My Xbox 360 uses 140W instead so I guess I will stick with my Xbox 360 for now.

The power consumption of the cards is not over 500W, it's just that you need a 500W or better power supply to power the entire computer and provide enough amps, watts, etc.

Which one is more economic in power consumption. A great gaming PC or X360 with 42" LED?

To answer the original question posted by Erkronos, it all depend's on the power supply in your computer.

Assuming it's a regular desktop with about 400 Watts, then i would say the best option would be a "GeForce 550 Ti" card that will cost around 120$. You're gonna get the best bang for buck with that piece of hardware. It can take on pretty much all games up till 1680x1050 resolution.

But i wouldn't say that ATI is bad in any way. It's just that the card you purchased was of a very low range. ATI card's are truly amazing. I had an ATI HD 4870 for two years and it was one of the finest graphic cards i've ever used. If it was my personal opinion, maybe ATI is better than Intel. But always remember that you need to compare cards of different brands at the same level.

Lucky you people PC hardware is cheaper in your country where as in Turkey, it is sky rocketing due to high VAT.
