Hey guys, i have been having BSOD's for a while now and i have no idea whats causing them i've updated everything i can think off, ive ran driver verifier, and upload the dump files, im hoping someone can point me to whats up.

Also ive ran memtest, at 8 passes i had an error, but i went on to test both sticks in each slot individually and there where no errors : /

Check to see if each of these fixes your problem in this order:

An outdated device driver, ASACPI.SYS, is a known BSOD problem on Windows 7. Update the driver by:
1. Going to the Asus motherboard support site
When you reach the website:
2. Scroll down the page and click Utilities
3. Hold Ctrl and press f (ctrl+f) to enter the browser's find feature
4. Search for "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit" (without quotes)
5. Download and install the driver.
6. After installation is complete, verify that it installed correctly.
a. Click Start Menu
b. Click My Computer
c. Go to C:\WIndows\System32\drivers\
d. Verify that the ASACPI.SYS file is dated 2009 or newer (2010,etc.)

Thanks to JMH and zigzag3143 for the above information.

Update Wacom(tablet) Mouse Filter's device driver.

Update Atheros Security NDIS 6.0 Filter Driver (likely a D-Link device)

Install the latest Asus Utilities

Uninstall and re-install I-Tunes as it seems to crash a lot, and the Bonjour Service sometimes acts erratically.

Your blue screens all appear to be memory related or system related. If the above update does not work, I recommend running with one stick at a time as you may have memory incompatibility. Are you using the same brand/same frequency/bought at the same time?

If the above still does not work, run the system file checker

I will follow each of the steps youve suggested and get back to you, I bought my ram from Crucial, and used their application that allowed you to search for ram that is compatible with your MB. The RAM i have is; (quoted from my receipt email)

BL2KIT25664BN1337 4GB kit (2GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM Upgrade for a ASUS M4A88T-M System

However i have just noticed that the product code is not in the qualified vendor list PDF from Asus despite crucials website telling me it is, i will take this issue up over the phone with crucial tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice

Just a quick question, which utilities should i download, for example i didnt think i would need to download ASUS GPU NOS or any programs like that?

also, i have downloaded and updated the drivers you suggested. my ASACPI.SYS is dated at 14th may 2009, and Wacom mouse filter is dated at 08 september 2011

Okay, I guess the ASACPI was as updated as it can be. I was thinking since it was pre-RTM release of Windows 7 you might need an update. I know the 2005/2006 driver causes BSOD issues.

For the utilities, just get the newest versions of the utilities you already have. I just noticed some of the utilities and drivers from them are a bit old.

You want to type "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) and press enter. Edit: You may need to run this three times to fix all errors.

Also, the main utility to update is PCProbe.

Ah ok, i put a space after the slash, have run sfc 4 times, still says it was unable to fix all corrupt files.

i have searched for an update to Atheros Security NDIS 6.0 Filter Driver but cant find one, I believe it came with my wireless adapter for virgin media broadband, which when connected began installing itself rather than directing me to download drivers or a cd that came with it.

That's not good that it could not fix all corrupt files. You may have to manually replace the files that it says are corrupt by using a Windows 7 DVD, see http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/42776-extract-files-windows-7-installation-dvd.html. Pay specific attention to the tip at the end for replacing system files.

Ive looked over the repair install, and im pretty sure i dont have SP1 on my disk, and creating sp1 on a flash drive and all the other steps i need to do, i dont feel confident attempting it without creating more problems for myself lol.

I think i'd like to run a clean install and see if any errors persist, unless you would advise against this.

It's really up to you. I just recommended the repair install because it maintains files and programs on your computer. If you are more comfortable with the clean install and have the time to install everything again, go for it. As you said, your files are backed up, so it's more a question of whether you want to re-install your programs.

Your BIOS won't be affected by Windows being re-installed. The others will, so updating those will be a good start. Also, get your Windows updates installed before installing programs. That is the best way to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Good luck! If you need any help, let us know.

Okay, well ive had another blue screen, same as before, so im guessing its almost definitely a hardware issue.

The message i got was memory management, is there a definitive way of finding out if its the ram or the socket?

and lastly, could a faulty empty socket cause issues?

also sfc showed no errors.
