Multiple Types of BSOD, Crash, Freeze and Shut Down

Hi Guys,

I am at the end of my tether with the amount of issues im having with my computer at the minute. I am experiencing freezing where the whole system just halts, a crash freeze where media freezing causes the computer to make a horrendous noise, some with the shutdown of the computer following, some requiring the computer to be terminated manually.

I have had BSODs from memory to Graphics Driver issues but am now experiencing two or three Parsity issues with malfunction messages. I have no idea whats going on to my computer, I have included the dumps and the perfmon with this post.

I checked the file before I uploaded and I saw that there was no AV detected on my computer despite windows displaying and recognizing Avast!

I look forward to some feedback and any help that can be offered in aiding me solving these issues. I would rather try anything not involving a reinstall for now since I dont have a working disc drive, my optic drive is broken -.-"

Virtually all of these are BCC 116

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps Let us know if you need help

1-Avast.

I notice your avast which is often at least a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace your Avast with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

I removed Avast! and also reinstalled the drivers for the intel turbo memory from the intel site. Unfortunately the only and latest drivers available were from 2009. My graphics driver is bang up to date and I cannot find drivers for the connexant modem or the winbond thing which is an infrared receiver that I cannot and dont use anyway.

After I removed them I have received one more Parsity and Malfunction bluescreen, another two or three stop error blue screens and more frequently some bizarre shutdowns.

The top spot has been taken by my computer just turning off. No crash no error nothing, just my computer turning black and going off. It is restarting to a black screen where it will remain until I press the power button where the computer will instantly turn OFF again.

What can we do from here?

Hey,

My computer is a laptop and the fan grill is clean. There is no dust buildup occurring and tonight I played games on it and it sent the temperature crazy high but the computer unaffected.

There was no bluescreening or crashing going on. I must tell that the problems have occurred both when playing games or media, with this latest video driver and other versions including one as far back as the last provided 8600m GT driver from the Acer site.

Also the problems have occurred when the computer has been left running nothing more than the desktop with very little activity and the computer running at ultra cool temperatures. Issues like the ones I have experienced have also been seen when I have as much as turned my computer on.

Its a bit of a mystery but it seems to be intermittent without any specific pattern to it :S Its why its worrying me because I have followed the steps other than mem test and temperature testing but as I have said problems have occurred when the computer has been flatline cool and quiet and when its been screaming hot and under alot of intense application/game runnings.

I have the same issue, also with my Acer Aspire 5920g: Random Freezes since several weeks now, and it seems to get worse.
