How long does it freeze for?
How long do you wait?
Shutting done can sometimes take a few minutes depending on what programs are running and may not shut down for a longer period if installing updates.

i got this from another site maybe it will help you,

it might tend to indicate a driver problem. Another thought is that there is a sound played during the "Exit Windows". I have read that if that WAV file is corrupted or damaged, then Windows freezes. In "Sound Schemes", you might set "Exit Windows"
sound to None.

Welcome...

What follows are some generic steps that MAY be of help.

* Should you get a BSOD we need the DMP files to analyse & thus better help you.

* There are many reasons why a PC " behaves" this way.

These annoying " gliches" may be caused by an overloaded hard drive, overworked CPU, Malware, running 2 AV 's, unnecessary data, Browser addons or you may have unnecessary programs running in the background etc....etc...

* Make sure all intake/exhausts vents are clean along with all fans. Then get some temp monitoring software for cpu, gpu.

* If you are overclocking STOP!

* Try clean-boot troubleshooting to see if something running in the background is the culprit.

It is likely due to your NETGEAR WG111v3 Wireless-G USB Adapter; Wireless USB is a very finicky method to get wireless internet. If you are having trouble shutting down with it plugged in, try removing it before shutting down and see if it resolves the problem.

Just tried it with the adapter unplygged and it still froze up. restarted without it plugged in and tried a restart and still froze.

Your problem may very well be related to the USB Controller that is having problems. First, make sure all your drivers are properly installed from your motherboard site. If you have a USB card that you are using that fits into your motherboard, make sure its drivers are installed. If those steps do not resolve the yellow exclamation mark, use the Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows Fix It tool to remedy hardware problems.

Also, I have seen these problems crop up when using third party software to find driver updates. Such software often finds updated drivers that belong to different devices then those actually on the user's computer. If you are using any software for finding driver updates, let us know.

How are your usb ports currently working?
