Not quite sure about doing "full format" after "clean all"

Okay so,

ive done "clean all" on all of my drive's (3 of them), to get to the point, to make sure everything, even infections are deleted, i do know clean all does this job already but, does it hurt to do a full format of the drive right after using the clean all command...? will it affect the clean all command?.. or is there nothing to worry about and can i full format my drive instead of quick right away now ;D?

thanks for awnsering my qeustion!

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

The Clean All command securely deletes all the data on the hard drive so a full format is not necessary afterwards.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/52129-disk-clean-clean-all-diskpart-command.html

i understood that, but if i choose to do a full format after creating the partition on the HDD i previously used clean all on to clean it, does this make it unclean again..? i want an as clean as possible instalation! that's why im asking

ps. thankyou for the welcome

No, it doesn't.

If I can use this analogy: If you wash and clean your car, giving it a final polish doesn't put all the dirt back. :)

There is no necessity to format your drive after using the Clean All command, but if you want to format afterwards then go ahead - it does not undo Clean All.

i did mean a full format, as in no quick format, that doesnt affect it either ;o?

sorry for the trouble, as you might know, it's always nice to be sure !

There is no need for a full format.

However, any partitions you create after you've used Diskpart to clean the drive will require at least a quick format before they can be used.

The only exceptions are the system reserved partition that is created during a clean install and the partition you install Windows to as Windows will automatically format it.

But I repeat, any formatting carried out after you've used the Clean All command does not undo the cleaning process.

The only reason I can see to do a full format after using clean all is if you think you might have bad sectors and need to re-allocate the drive to remove the bad sectors from the allocation table. Otherwise, a quick format is sufficient, as seavixen32 has pointed out. :)

Neither format type will make your hard disk "dirty" again.

Hi,

Usually your monitor might turn off, but it can be turned back again simly by moving the mouse or hitting a key on the keyboard. I'm not sure about the rest of the system though....again it can usually be woken up by moving/interacting with the peripherals.

Regards,
Golden

There is no value to using the Diskpart Clean All command that the Clean command doesn't provide, except to more securely overwrite data so it is not retrievable.

The value of either command for installation is to clear the boot sector which is needed only in rare cases where installation is failing, and the Clean command will do this much faster.

It is mistaken to think that your HD is any cleaner using the Clean All command, as data being written doesn't know the difference if there is a 0, 1 or all 0's under it. Our Security experts here have confirmed that infection cannot survive in any case.

so your saying cause it went into like? a stanby mode, or my screen went black, i moved the mouse and it went on again, it showed the process can be finished as i know from previous experiances in windows the hdd turns off not being used, what if the HDD was turned off due the standby, would that make the process finish instantly due not knowing whats going on?

No - as long as clean all is running, the disk is being accessed and will not go into standyby mode.
