Hey,

Basically I'm really stumped here and need some help! For Christmas I bought myself a new Motherboard bundle (specs below) and installed it and everything has been working fine, CPU has been running between 40-50% and there haven't been any general problems at all.

However about a week ago I was playing a game and my computer just crashed, no blue screen, no minidump...literally nothing. However i did have headphones in and i could hear a buzzing. Took them out and turned my speakers on and the buzzing was still there. I had no option but to hit the reset switch on the front of my case.

And just now (hence why I'm posting) the same thing happened. I was watching a film and it just crashed, once again nothing on the screen, just nothing to even indicate a potential problem

So i have come here in hope that someone will be able to help me with this. Funny enough i'm an IT Technician myself, and I have never come across this problem, so i wouldn't even know where to start. Please any advice is welcome, I just want to get to the bottom of this.

Thank you

What your are experiencing is commonly referred to as "crashed to desktop". This is directly related to your GPU. Have you gone to AMD's website and downloaded the latest driver for your 4600 series GPU? That's where I would start at.

Just another thought, looking at your system specs, your running a 350 watt PSU. That might be a possible cause as well, being under powered.

you may need a BIOS update if you don't have at least FD. GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-880GM-USB3 (rev. 3.1)
The board should have REV. 3.1 on it as well for FX support.

Check through all of your connections, reseat them, sometimes one can be left a fraction of an inch out and doesn't make full contact, especially on the video card.

I aggre with bassfisher on the PSU.

500Watt Minimum for that GPU

AMD Certified Power Supplies

and then you have an AMD quad Core, that another 100watts.

I put a 1k PSU behind my Core i7k and GTX560Ti, and found I don't have a lot of head room once installed 2 SSD and 4 HDDS.

I belive bassfisher6522 to be correct power is your issue.

The problem could be due to either underpowered power supply or a loose connection on the motherboard.

Check the event viewer for System events when this happens. If nothing on logs, it could be one of the above.
