zigzag, i had actually changed the driver to driver.sys which windows lists as a suitable driver for my CPU, to try to rule out or fix the problem with AMDPPM with no change in BSODs

i changed them all to processor.sys and rebooted then checked the loaded drivers to verify the processor cores were all using processor.sys and they were, no AMDPPM in sight and it still crashes

Changed "them"? which them? If you leave the extension *.sys it can still load and will.

If after changing them to *.bak it is still crashing upload the DMP files

i did that before the recent reformatting.. but its not crashing anymore today.. its stopped so it wont crash again until tomorrow morning.. so before i go to sleep for tonight ill switch them to processor.sys and rename the amdppm.sys.. and by "them" the processor shows up as four processors in the device manager, so i have to change them all over

well, i did what was suggested.. changed all my processor drivers over to processor.sys from amdppm.sys and renamed amdppm.sys so it wouldnt load.. computer has been on for a few hours for today, and no BSOD as of yet.. ill give it a few days before reporting it a success though

if AMDPPM was really the culprit, should i just continue to use processor.sys, or is there a better alternative to amdppm.sys i could use?

I am unsure regarding an alternative but my view is if it is working let it be.

unfortunately, i had a BSOD this morning, but it was only one, not a major cluster like usual... said NTOSKRNL was the culprit... but im going to wait to see if it happens again so ill have more new data to post here

i took my computer apart.. its clear to me this is hardware related since it will sometimes freeze before the BIOS screen disappears, and sometimes before it even appears...

my first impression is its heat related because after an hour or two of crashes in the morning it stops

i took my computer apart.. the filter was blocked pretty bad, and this PC didnt have a case fan....

so, i punched some holes in the exhause vent and fitted a PC case fan behind the filter which positions itself directly over the CPU fan as well, so now i have the CPU fan and this much larger fan both cooling this thing down... we'll see what happens now

its been 3 days since the installation of the bigger fan.. no crashes as of yet, id like to consider this a success, and hope that anyone with a similar problem will find this forum, with an air-restricting slim case like mine so theyll know what to do
