Solved possible to exit mspaint without prompt to save?

dozens of times per day I view and modify images using mspaint, then almost always want to exit without saving the modified image. To do so, I have to first exit, and then click on "don't save". Is there any method at all (registry hack, utility program, etc) that will allow me to exit mspaint immediately without having to to always do that extra click for "don't save"?

If you just want to just view an image then you shouldn't have any issues but if you have changed/modified this image then it's normal procedure for any program to prompt you if you would like to save the changes ... stands to reason, you'de be pretty peed off if you made some major adjustments then just closed the program and forgot to save the changes you made ... it's only a single click to say "no" to save changes

I understand why the default is to prompt to save. What I am asking is for a technique to avoid it.

Its worth seeking a way around it. I do it dozens of times a day.

I've goto agree with logicearth ... I'de rather click a mere dozen times a day to "no" then loose one image that I've carelessly forgotten to say "yes" to

what about 100 or 200 times a day?

I do save the modification sometimes, I just never need reminding.

Then use Autohotkey, just so you know. Autohotkey is not changing a setting in Windows or modifying Windows in any way. It merely intercepts and emulates a key press for the dialog.

But no, there is nothing you can change in Windows to avoid it. It is how the program was made.

You can create a batch file using taskkill. An icon could reside on the task bar to kill the ms paint program.

For instance, Taskkill /IM firefox.exe /F
would forcefully kill firefox.

My sincere congratulations. You must be the first and only perfect PC user throughout times!

I think you should remember we mere mortals can not avoid making mistakes. An operating system can not be designed for one perfect PC user; it makes more sense regarding commercial aspects to design an OS to meet the needs of the other few billion users.

Not needing to save except for once in a great while, and then being able to remember to do so, is a claim to perfection? What a wierd post

Thanks. Just did that and it was just what I needed. It also kills all open instances of mspaint at once, which is very convenient as well. I knew someone constructive would come along. Maybe its not as fun as being judgemental, but its better for those it impacts, every time.

A hot fix here is to use right-click on the mspaint-windows on the taskbar, and "Close all".

Then use the hoykey-for using on the promt for "Do you want to save the changes?"

My button was "n" for "Don't Save".

kill the process itself if you have many open windows and you don't want to save the changes :
taskkill /f /im mspaint.exe
