Solved Outlook express wont work with windows 7: bought new compter

I need some help, I just bought a new computer and it has windows 7 in it. from what I have been reading, outlook can not be download in it. So what should I do, I am running a small business, I have multi e-mail address. Some are from charter (.net),from go daddy (.com) and gmail. From what I read I might have to download another program, but then i read, no you wont. I do know somewhat about computers, the basic. Can some please help me! I am lost on what to do.

Outlook Express is not available on Windows 7. Forget about it.

Microsoft's replacement for it is "Windows Live Mail". I tried it and couldn't stand it. It's nowhere near as simple and understandable as Outlook Express, which I used and liked for 10 years.

I'd try Thunderbird, a free download from Mozilla.org. It's pretty simple and can be configured to look a lot like Outlook Express. Here is what it looks like on my PC.

Must admit I agree, although I only use the eMail client myself...

I believe it can import Outlook Express archives, as it still uses the .eml extension on messages - and I know it's a lot simpler and faster to install than the hacks to make Vista's Mail client work in Seven.

How safe is Windows Mail in Seven anyway? Since it's a hack surely there are no security patches for it, as they'd only be palmed down to Vista users :huh:

Browneyes, I'd recommend my link if you want to import your Outlook Express archives. And yes, it will allow you multiple accounts as either POP/SMTP or IMAP...

You don't have to use Windows Live Mail unless that is your choice. I found it hopeless.

You may have another opinion. I want simple and the least complications possible.


Importing email from another application is always a shaky proposition. Sometime it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

All you can do is experiment with the various choices, subject to your own frustration level.

Rather then importing I always leave archives on the server; then I can just reset the POP server and download the whole lot afresh into a new eMail client - much less tricky...

why wouldn't it work, it works for me.
try this then Download Windows Live Messenger 2009 (14.0.8117) - FileHippo.com gives you various options, but chose the one you want. mail, messenger,etc.

ps. @Qdos i meant windows live messenger 15 emos suck
