Why not Microsoft sells Win 7 version downloadable via Steam much cheaper than media DVD and dull retail boxes ?, Steam take PC games over than retail boxes and offers great deal of prices for PC games.
I would love to buy full version downloadable for Win 7 OS Pro or Ultimate for less $100 with clean key and unlimited reinstall OS.
I am still running with Win 7 x64 7232 with rc key till 3/2010.
Just my 2 cents.

why would they even consider this? they can charge anything they want, and people will pay and they know it.. silly to think of lowering prices and profits... its a business....
The Microsoft Store offers digital download delivery of Win7 (if you pre-ordered Win7, you'll notice the option). They don't offer a discount for the download version, though (except that it has no shipping cost).
my opinion is that steam should stay a online gaming service and not be a distributor of operating systems and applications but they are selling a downloadable version of windows-7 in iso form upon release

besides. how do you expect to reinstall your os when the thing installing it, gets formatted? well one could argue that you can download it through steam, and then burn it to a cd! ....... just go to the store.... less pain, more 7
Because Steam is crap. But even then, for OS distribution!? That's the most retarded idea I've ever read. Being able to download the OS you paid for is one thing, but doing it through Steam makes no sense.

You can get up to 10 keys, with 10 acts each. For only $350. The catch, is that it is for "testing", and must be uninstalled after your Sub ends. Though it is up to you to do this, they do not enforce it (much?).

HOW do you propose to distribute Windows on Steam? it's impossible because:
a) Steam is gamestore only
b) how will you install downloaded OS? never thought about that, arn't ya?
c) Microsoft has own online store

Not everyone uses Steam and I'm sure Microsoft wants to control who downloads its products and the security measures involved as well. Which in my opinion is very understandable.
