No Xbox 360 Display Via HDMI

I've been trying to setup my Xbox 360 with HDMI with no luck. It works fine via component but I just get a black screen when I set it up with HDMI. I've tried holding Y and the right trigger to reset the display settings but nothing changes. Any ideas?

If possible try another hdmi cable.
If that fails, you may have a bad hdmi port on your box. It does happen.

I've tried 2 HDMI cables, both of good quality (not cheap ones). I'll try my Xbox with HDMI on a Panasonic Viera and i'll post back

yeah if multiple cables/displays don't fix it , it may be time to ...contact microsoft support.

Works perfectly on my Panasonic TV, i've tried both ports on my Toshiba, still no luck.

Most newer TV's, especially the newer smart TV's, have a "Input" setting in it's menu for what the source of the video and audio will be from. In this case, the HDMI port.

It's definetely not a new TV (6 years old) but I know for a fact that the HDMI ports work, it works with my blu ray player no problem.

well are you setting the xbox for 720p?
the older tv probably can't scale the image on it's own.

anyhow that's the difference between the working configuration and the one that isn't working it appears the one it works on is 1080

Reset the console display settings

If the display problem is still not resolved, reset the display settings of your console. Here's how:

1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
2. Turn off the console.
3. Turn on the console.Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn on the console by using the Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left light illuminated.
4. As the console starts, on the controller, press and hold Y while pulling the right trigger. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts.

well are you setting the xbox for 720p?

When I use component, it's at 1080i. There is no option for 1080p on the Xbox so it couldn't automatically go higher.
