Solved I want to wipe the HD on my old PC.

I purchased a notebook, move data from the old to the new, reinstall W7 0n the new and other programs. Now it's time to wipe out the old before I give it away. What's a good way to wipe the HD? I presume that it might be a "wiper
that I download to and use from a CD.

there's tons of apps to do it and most of the support DoD level wiping.
Using this method will mean that the harddrive will need to be reformatted and have windows reinstalled.
but there will be no trace of any past data left.

Hello William,

You coud run the "Clean all" command on the HDD to do a secure erase on it to wipe everything on it.

I don't know if i'm allowed to give my two cents.


I use Hardwipe (is free) and is doing a great job, but you have to connect the drive you want to clean externally with a sata\ide to usb or enclosure.
