This is rather strange but in my windows ultimate video editing machine every time I go to use my editing software and go to open or inpost a file the window opens for a second then quickly disappears. Could there be some sort of exe issue? I am running Norton's NIS2012 now but had just Karperskys anti virus lapse on me.:confused:

hello gregrocker;
First, I would like to thank you for the quick response. I have tried all your suggestions except a repair install (which requires updating afterwords) and a fresh install (my favorite (but the most time consuming because of coarse files and data needs to be backed up). I am a fan of NIS because as far as I know they are the only ones who provide telephone support 24/7, after doing hundreds of installs that tech support has come to be a Little handy with a little handy. I have tried reinstalling some of the software but the same thing happens so it must be the op sys, a setting changed somewhere perhaps....would be nice if Microsoft added a reset feature like they have in IE.:(

No, I have the original DVD (both) so I would have to manually install all of the updates. Is there a way to download the SP1 image (to date from MS) to do the install over if needbe? I own a retail version of Ultimate (several) kind of wish that MS offerred more telephone support and/or a better scan tool for issues like this.
Thanks

I have been toying around with the image thing but would prefer a recovery disk, I have had drives fail. Are there any rock solid tools or software that could do this that you are aware of?
Much appreciated:)

You save the backup image to an external drive, not the same HD. It is not practical to save a backup image to DVD as it would take too many disks hence too many opportunities for failure. This is the modern method.

That said you should indeed make Recovery disks if your computer manufacturer provides that option.

What is it you want to do exactly? If you tell me the licensed version I'll provide an installer ISO with SP1.

My installation totals 90gb which would span 4 BDRs or 2 DL BDRs (too expensive). I like the external HD optiond but what Software would you reccomend? I own a Full retail Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (installed because I have 12 GB of RAM). This was a homemade build so an ISO of the most recent installer would be Great if possible?
Thanks

Is it a utility meant to run in a command line window? If so you will see the command line window (black) briefly open then close.

Edit: I use (decided to buy!) NIS2012 after using NIS2011. I have no complaints with the product like many other forum users. You can always use Norton's uninstall-reinstall utility if not running as expected. NRnR.exe on their website.

Oh, I just saw the blue links (still getting used to the forum layout). Just an added notation, being LB it is not the best color for people with diminished visual acuity. I was hoping for that ISO link for the Win 7 Ult. x64 install, if more imfo is needed off of the DVD let me know. Thanks for all your help.

I am assuming that you want me to do a clean install but I have a SKU GLC-00182 (off COA) MIPR Disk X15-60561-01 ©2009 MSC without SP1. If you can supply the link to the installation w/SP1 ISO it would be of great assistance.
Thanks
