Can't upgrade to 7600

when i try to upgrade to build 7600 i get the error "You can’t upgrade this prerelease version of Windows 7. Go online to see how to install Windows 7 and keep your files and settings."
is this a know issue or am i doing something wrong?

I had this issue with 7057 to 7100. I ended up upgrading to 7077 first, then it would let me go to 7100. So I suspect that MS only alllows upgrades from "certain" build numbers. There may be an easier way, but you might be able to find an build that can upgrade 7127, and then 7600 may be able to upgrade that new build.

You have to do a clean install when moving to 7600, it's faster than an upgrade anyway. I have a partition with all my data, photos etc and the OS on the other. That way when you do clean install you just have to re run your software from the saved .exe files.

+1 but i'd highly advise re-install software as certain 'critical' registry keys may be missing. (a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/4230-registry-backup-restore.html may be handy in this case)

You can use http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11470-windows-easy-transfer-transfer-computers.html to save your user files & settings and re-instate on your fresh 7600

I think what they are saying is MS is purposfully not going to let you perform an upgrade. Are you looking for a hack? I did a hack to the registry to upgrade Windows Vista Enterprise to Windows 7 since it wouldn't let me do that either. I wonder if that could work in this case? Unfortunately I didn't write down the details.

Right click the setup.exe, choose vista compatability, and run as administrator. That should get you going.

(this has worked on previous builds when it wouldn't let you, I don't know if it works on ->7600)
