Random shutdowns playing Mass Effect 2 (need to figure out what from)

Hi everyone,

I recently reformatted my laptop and did the necessary steps in order to ensure everything was back on track. Unfortunately, yesterday when I tried to play Mass Effect 2 on Steam, my computer shut down without a BSOD or any other error message. I thought it might have been an overheating issue (I have never had an issue like this with my ASUS laptop, even while it was overclocked to the max through the ASUS utility). I figured it might be a one off, and decided to give it another go. Unfortunately, it happened again 20 minutes later as well.

I was hoping someone can help me decipher the Event Viewer information and whatever else you may need, so I can fix the issue and beat Mass Effect 2 before the third one comes out.

Thank you in advance for all the help.

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:
{Instructions courtesy of writhziden}

Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file here.

From your event log you have 354 errors from just this one missing file. It is part of the OS and can be repaired/re-installed by doing a repair install.

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\P4G\MFC80U.DLL". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50608.0" could not be found.

Did that work for you? I am having similar issues with random restarts in mass effect 2. It happens every time I am about to start the mission to get archangel.
