Backup continuously fails, "The RPC server is unavailable"

Basically what the title there says, the quotations show the only information given to me on this issue. I've turned off Comodo as I read on a different help topic that they can sometimes interfere, but that didn't help.

I'm using Home edition, 64 bit, if that helps at all.

Any tips or suggestions? Perhaps an alternate backup software to use perhaps? Basically, my computer has had issues with it before (some that have completely stumped even my most tech-savvy friends!) and after multiple instances in the past solved only by a full re-install, I'd like to make sure it -stays- functional, without me having to wipe my drive due to some inexplicable error and fully re-install again.

That wouldn't be RPC service would it? If it is service, rather than server, then I would expect you would have more problems than just backup.

Please throw light on the type of back-up you are trying to do and the software that you are using for it.

Nope, just checked again. it definitely says RPC server on the error report.

Just a basic system backup, so that if something goes wrong at any point, i can just load it to the previous point. all of my main programs, including the OS, are installed on a small solid state I have for my C: drive, while all of my programs beyond basic ones (eg. games, third party programs, movies, etc.) are on a regular 1T hard drive. It's convenient so I can safely do a full wipe of my C: drive and not lose all of my data, but it's still been a pain all of the times I've had to do said re-installs, so I figure a backup would save time. Right now I'm just using windows 7's natural data backup/restore feature, so the issue hasn't to do with any other backup programs (though a friend of mine suggested using Norton Ghost or Acronis).

Well, I'm pretty sure Windows Backup relies on the RPC Service. Probably worth looking in Services for Remote Procedure Call (RPC) to check that it is not stopped or disabled. You should see its startup type set to "automatic" and its status as "started".

I just went to check in services, and I can confirm that yes, that service is started and set to automatic.
