I've never understood why we need to pay more than the actual price and postage of the item. :sarc:

In the USA we have to also pay sales tax on each item, a percentage of the
cost of the item, plus the sales tax and shipping and handling.

Yeah, we pretty much have the same here. Also an extra charge if shipping from overseas, separate from the actual posting/shipping fee.

One worse, eBays double dip, they own PayPal so you have to pay twice!!!

Yeah agree there Windows I use paypal as little as possible as it so damn so as well as expensive. No wonder some of the sellers have quite ridiculous prices on their gear. I have a room full of spare gear that I see going for fortunes on Ebay and I wouldn't have the nerve to sell some of it.

Plus the Athlon I just bought had better be working unlike the last one:sarc:

Being outbid on Ebay seconds before it finishes after waiting five days on your bid

I win things like this all the time on eBay, I set up a clock and about 3 seconds before it ends I put in my maximum amount am willing to pay and see what happens. I believe it's called being a sniper.

When you're buying something EBay and PayPal does not charge you anything, only the seller pays EBay and PayPal fee.

You are correct about that, but it still gets passed on to the buyer. I have sold quite a few things on Ebay and always add a bit to the Shipping & Handling because I know Ebay will be adding a fee to my price.

Won't those extra charges show up on your cart , total purchase prices, just before you hit the BUY button.. if so.. then just delete it from your cart if it's too high. I've done that quite a few times.. not with E-Bay but other companies.
( I may be wrong .. but they can't add any other charges after you hit the Buy button )

With eBay the listing should list all the charges like tax or shipping but unlike a online merchant if you have won the auction or hit the buy it now button you are committed to buying it there is no backing out.

When you buy any item, there is always a Shipping Charge that is displayed before you even bid on the item. Say the shipping is $5. The seller figures in to the $5 the amount of charges that are charged by Ebay. The buyer doesn't actually pay the Ebay charge, but it is in the Shipping whether you know it or not.
