What bit version of 7 are you using? I see there is no mention of an updated chipset driver...have you done that driver update?

Hi, i listed it down on my profile at the side hahas

oops its Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Yes, I have updated the chipset driver. With or without that driver, the problem still exists

Do you have any non-essential hardware you can remove? Also, have you monitored the services being run at the time the system locks up?

OK...I see your using the 64 bit version. What stands out for me is a RAM issue. Do you have the right/compatible RAM? Do you have the RAM in the right slots. After looking at your mobo system specs and with what RAM you have listed, I see that it's not on the QVL. That's not to say your RAM wont work just that it's not on the QVL list for compatible RAM for your mobo.

Taking in consideration for this particular mobo, that it has military grade specs, that leads me to believe that following the QVL would be advised.

Nope, I have connected the minimal.

Hmm the services being run? Using task manager, there are currently 43 processes.
1/3 of them are windows one.

Hi i too suspect its the rams.

I mean, it might not be significant, but i have run Memtest86+ in DOS and windows diagnostic tool with passes on both.
Also, I can go into BIOS with both sticks of rams.

I'm searching the net for users who have used non-QVL of RAMS as we speak

*it seems that this ram has been tested to work with my mobo by Corsair?

Just to make sure...you do have the latest BIOS installed. The latest version is ... 2103 dated 2011.12.14, which states memory compatibility and system stability.

You can confirm what BIOS version you have by downloading and running CPU-Z and when the app is open click on "Mainboard" and look down in the BIOS section for version and date.

Have you changed any settings in the BIOS? Just to make sure....set the BIOS to default settings and save and exit out.

Ok I load "optimized defaults" and save and exit.

Lets see how that goes

Btw, my memory is rated by CPUZ as 667mhz

I did a quick google for your motherboard + freezing, and there are quite a few threads about it. How old is the motherboard? Have you contacted Asus about it, and maybe getting it RMA'd?

yea i realise this issue is not as rare as i thought it would be.

The motherboard is almost a year old.

I wouldn't want to be so quick to RMA becoz im running a WC setup, and unless its something unfixable on my end, then i would consider RMA.

Reading those threads about the mobo, I have disabled C1E, C3 and C6 in BIOS.

Shall wait and see

Thanks guys, seems like disabling the C1E, C3 and C6 did the trick.

Should have came across the long thread at XS where this issue was explained clearly!
