Random BSOD every 1-2 days

Hi all,

I built (5) identical Shuttle (SH67H3) computers about 6 months ago. Four of the computers are running without problems; one randomly BSOD's every 1-2 days (usually after 10 hours of operation). The computers are used only on gigs (for video playback) - no games or internet surfing. All the computers have been fine-tuned for the playback software (Dataton Watchout). Only necessary drivers installed; Windows updates & firewall disabled; no antivirus software. All settings are stock - no overclocking.

To troubleshoot, I have run:
Memtest86+ - 7 passes w/o errors on both sticks of RAM
Prime95 - 2 hours w/o errors
Driver Verifier - BSOD on (03/12/12) dump file

I am still using my original installation of Windows (about 6 months ago)

Specs:
Windows Home Prem 7 SP1 32bit (OEM)
Shuttle SH67H3 case
Intel Core i5-2500
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
(1) Crucial C300 64GB system drive *
(1) Crucial C300 128GB work drive *
XFX Radeon HD 5770 single-slot

*I previously had to troubleshoot the C300 drives (on all 5 computers) by disabling LPM, enabling "hot plug", and updating the HD firmware.

All (5) computers have the stock 300 watt PSU. This seemed a bit underpowered to me, but was OK'd by Shuttle and (4) of the computers are running fine without problems.

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress

Some generic advice.

If you are overclocking STOP. Return to the default settings at least for now.
If you are running a RAID update its driver.

Thanks. Except for removing/swapping out hardware, I have followed the "Stop 0x124" troubleshooting strategy.

-It doesn't seem to be overheating. It's a small case, so it hovers around 45c when running the video playback software.

-The BIOS are the most current.

Could also be ram, power, a driver (not likely), etc.

Unfortunately the computer crashed again w/ the replacement RAM. I don't know if it was a BSOD because the computer was off when I noticed (it had shut itself down). No dump file was posted. The last two crashes, I'm remembering now, didn't generate dump files and shut the computer down. Any ideas? What should I test next?

Stress tests

FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature"
Click "Go" to start the test
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).
NOTE: Set the alarm to go off at 90ºC. Then watch the system from that point on. If the system doesn't display a temperature, watch it constantly and turn it off at the first sign of video problems. DO NOT leave it it unmonitored, it can DAMAGE your video card!!!
If the temperature gets above 105ºC, quit the test - the video card is overheating.
- Click "Quit" to exit

I just finished running Furmark for 30min. The temp leveled out at 89c, 19fps at 1280X1024 (23fps was max) - no artifacts or errors.

I'm running Hot CPU tester right now.

Another update. IntelBurnTest failed after only 37 seconds on "standard" setting. I'm at a loss of what to do next. Any thoughts?

I tried IntelBurnTest one more time just to be sure and it caused the computer to BSOD after about 20 seconds. It's the same "Stop 0X124" code as all the others.

Its some piece of hardware and if the computer us under warranty I would contact the mfr.
