After upgrading from XP to Windows 7 (on a new computer) and making several abortive attempts to transfer my Outlook Express Folders and Addresses to Outlook, I have succeeded in making thousands of duplicates before finally "getting it right." Is there an easy way to globally delete duplicates rather than doing them one at a time?

I suppose I could delete all the folders and addresses and start over with the successful transfer method. If I did this how would the deletion process work? The latter method kind of scares me because I have over 14 years of data invoved.

Thanks for any suggestions.

What I would do is export the addresses from Outlook Express to a Excel spreadsheet. Check them and make sure it looks complete. Go into your Outlook Address Book. You can hold down Shift and Page Down and it will highlight all adresses. When they are all highlighted, just hit delete. That should get rid of them. You can then import the spreadsheet with the correct Address Book and you should be in shape. It shouldn't take too long.

Thanks Bigmck

As you suggested I went ahead and deleted everything, although I'll have to admit I felt pretty uneasy. I had already downloaded the data into a zip drive from the Outlook Express "Store" and just reimported it. Everything went fine. No problems with the deletions...just needed someone to hold my hand while I did it.

Thanks again.
