Hmmm just a thought go into the bios and check if you have the settings like you did before i know when i added a new chip my settings had to be re-done just a thought cause i thought i was smooth sailing till my wei went down and i found out my settings went to default IDE instead of having my drive on ACHI mode

good suggestion. But, nice scores even if the WEI did go down. It's all about how it runs more than what score it gets.

Unless Dell locks the BIOS, you can overclock the Intel HD chipset. At least on the Intel boards. I'm running a i7-2600 which has HD-2000. I'm currently running it at 1350Mhz. The stock is 850Mhz. It bumped the WEI a few tenths. Supposedly, it can be clocked up to around 2100Mhz but I'm afraid to try it on my daily PC. I made a custom heatsink for the PCH on mine but I don't want to press my luck. I don't game so it's plenty fast for what I do.

Nice scores! I put an ssd in my 2 year old laptop and it is sooo fast now! Mabe you have some autorun programs that are heavy on your system, and that's why your scores dropped.

For those that are interested, my windows 7 wei scores vs windows 8 wei scores.

Incase anyone is unaware, windows 8 goes up to 9.9 so a lot of expensive stuff to be bought by all to get near

I don't know. How can you tell? I can't find any build references. I have CP build 8250. It's already had updates via MS. For sure, I'm not downloading another version. :shock: Takes too long on my back-woods connection.

Here is my System Information and WEI score:

Not too shabby for a laptop

The only thing that's strange is that my graphics rating fluctuates as a result of the nVidia Optimus software. Before driver updates graphics were 5.9 then 6.6 and now 6.7 although it reads as the Intel card instead of the GT. This is not a gaming rig so it's not a big deal but it's weird that the numbers are not static like with the CPU and Memory.


Running on the i7 2860QM CPU with dual Intel 520 SSD's and 12 GB of Kingston HyperX memory.

The nVidia Optimus technology involves switching between the integrated graphics and the discreet card. I'd assume during the assessment it would use the discreet card? Also, I believe it will default to the integrated GPU when the laptop is unplugged. Good numbers BTW, better then my desktop
