Solved 3 BSOD's 0x0000001E, 0x00000019, 0x0000007E

I have purchased an EVGA SC GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 thinking it's either the GFX, or PSU. I plan on getting Corsair TX750 ATX PSU within the next week also.

I've bought what I know I would buy anyway, in hopes with helping with the problem. I'd like some direction from the pro's in case the afformentioned purchases don't fix the problem. I'm not against formatting but I would like a more clear idea of what I'm overcoming if it actually is software.

I'm trying my best to provide as much information as I can think to. Hope this helps.

These are 3 independent BSOD's, just the header or start of the stop code; see event viewer below for full sc (sc, sc, sc) and the variations
1st noticed;
Between Jan and Feb, much overtime @ work; little time @ home t/s, not sure exactly
Conditions;
No issue during long sessions of idle, or light stress
Stress induced shut-downs while streaming full screen, or playing modern video games
Bandaids used;
Boxfan side panel
Outcome;
(Temp) Solution provided - Shut downs did not occur when boxfan introduced (and 2GB+ free on SSD)
To do list;
Planned on cleaning fans thoroughly when less overtime, possibly reapplying thermal paste
Concurrent issue;
When; Shortly before receiving the new memory
Mouse would "roll" or "snag" every cm or so
Reinstalling firmware corrects the issue, but will occur at least once per session

Uninstall + Install newest Nvidia drivers for the GTX260
Use System Tools provided by Nvidia for their drivers, to manually set gfx fan @ 80 & 90%
Removed all fans and cleaned thoroughly
Cleared all air flow passageways
Disabled Startup Apps and Services (after hiding all MS services)
Performed Restore to overcome start fail after crashing before Windows Update completed
Reseated memory, after fail to start, making sure I could boot to Windows with each stick
Freeing more space on the SSD, 9.86GB free of 55.7GB available

It seems you're on the right track with your video card and PSU upgrades. About half the crashes point to a video-related cause. The other half were caused by your Lachesis drivers, so it looks like we're looking at two separate causes. Fortunately, the Lachesis driver issue should be easy to remedy: install the latest updates from this page: Razer Support

Take care of those two things, and I'd say you have a 95% chance of solving all your BSODs. Therefore, I'll add the next two items as more of a footnote.

The version of Realtek ethernet drivers you're running does cause BSODs sometimes on newer systems; given they are now over 3 years old, it's not all that surprising. I'd encourage you to install updated ones from here, when you get a chance: Realtek

Second, SPTD is installed on your system, which is notorious for causing BSODs. I don't see them causing problems on your system now, but just be warned. If the BSODs persist, or you start getting them again in the future, consider that to be your next recommendation. You can bookmark this post if you like, just so you have easy access to it later. The proper way to remove SPTD is to first uninstall whatever CD virtualization program is using it (Alcohol 52% in your case...Daemon Tools is the other program that uses SPTD). When the program that uses it is gone, remove SPTD itself with the tool found here: DuplexSecure - Downloads

Thank you for the compliment, and more importantly thanks a thousand times over for researching my issue and providing feedback so quickly.

I took care to address all of your suggestions, and a lot of stress was relieved when some of my hunches were confirmed with your findings. This forum has been extremely helpful to me in the past with searches, and I'm extremely satisfied with the results from my first post.

Question

Is there a guide on here, or tools available, to view/simplify the dumps to weed out good information about crashing/issues? I'm really a huge fan of the perfmon /report, but if you guys have a best practice method of utilizing that tool and way of viewing dumps it would help out a lot.. The whole give a man a fish, teach a man to fish, etc.

*Also, is there a way to set this post as a "solved" issue?

I had previously installed that driver, but tried something a bit different this time.

I was installing the firmware first, previously, with the assumption sw changes made to the device will stick. And when installing the driver that there will be no changes made to the device it's communicating with.

Change
Uninstalled drivers, Reinstalled drivers, Reapplied firmware

Result
Problem did not reoccur, in a timeframe where it would have over the last few days

Realtek Ethernet

Here I have a question, is it just the Realtek driver that is installed that has an issue, or specifically a Realtek ethernet?

The DFI board has a Marvell Yukon 88E8056 ethernet card on it, and I've downloaded and installed drivers for it from their support site.

However I do have a Realtek ALC885 audio card onboard as well with that DFI. No reason to not do this anyway, but curious if these known issues may actually be for this audio card.

SPTD

If I continue to run into problems I will definitely attempt removal of Alcohol 52%. I actually have the install file on an external from the last version when the app was free rather than a free trial so no big deal there.

I have to have some sort of virtual ODD though, as I regularly use it for various O/S installs on VMWare for MySQL.

Is there a virtual ODD app that you recommend, that has problems the least? I have updating disabled as it will turn it into the free version, and I'm not a fan of automatically updating virtualization software.

In trying to figure out why I thought you had it installed, I realized I must have had another person's dump in the directory when I ran yours. If you check out my "Summary of the dumps" in my first post, scroll to the bottom and you'll notice a 0x116 blaming atikmdag.sys. That was apparently the "rogue" dump, as you are using nVidia. I apologize for my mistake and whatever hassle it caused you, trying to figure out what I was talking about.

Update: The Problem is BACK!

Just got home from work, powered up, idled for 20 minutes or so. Loaded up C&C Alliance (browser game, not stressful at all). About 20 minutes of play and the following happens:

*Mouse snag/rolling again
Update firmware - corrects the mouse movement hanging
Resume Playing
BSOD as shown in event viewer below

*Drivers already installed, have tried both installing drivers first, and after at this point to experience the same event

I sincerely appreciate all the previous help. I intend to replace the mouse soon as well, however Zowie EC2 series has been discontinued due to the manufacturer of the optical device stopped production of that particular model so I'm likely to have to pay $100+ to have a $50 mouse shipped from EU to USA as I can't find one anywhere else. Hopefully if it is the Lachesis that is the problem, it will naturally correct itself when I do replace it. If I absolutely can't get around the BSOD without removing the Lachesis; I suppose I could use a peasant mouse in the meantime. I'm hoping to avoid this by any means, only as an absolute last resort.

Excellent! Thanks for the guide. No worries about hassles, they're all just learning experiences in disguise. I was more concerned about devices showing up as things they shouldn't.

**Edit 2: Putting this back as solved. I'm sure it's the Lachesis, and the resolution is surely just replacing the mouse which those first dumps clearly show. Thanks again!
