Problem with IE, MSE, Chrome & Windows Update: 0x80244019

Hi,

If a Repair Install doesn't work, it might be easier to just reinstall your system from scratch, starting with Windows 7 SP1, and then update from that point forward.

Download the correct ISO here:
Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life

Burn it to a bootable USB drive using this tool:
Microsoft Store Online

Install it and format your drive at the same time. Validate it during install with your licence key, then immediately run Windows Update.

Post back if you have any further trouble.

Am I correct in thinking this is just a windows update problem now? You are no longer having issues with the other things mentioned in your title? If so, try the Fixit in this link.

No, I do have thoose errors when I have XAMPP installed, which is somewhat nessercary. But, I get the same error for that program as I do from windows update. Still have yet to try upgrading - been too busy with assignments

Ugh, OK, Well just updated. And when I try to activate windows I get the error 0x80072EFD. Same error as windows update! I might have to reinstall...

Please uninstall all third party firewall and security software. uninstall virusscanner as well. Then reboot

I think that Fix It thing worked. I tryed it without restarting my PC (and I could activate windows). OK, Now for the real test; windows update. I tell you if it works... And if not I'll post that log file.

You only did th microsoft fix? You didn't uninstall virusscanner, 3rd party firewall?
what the heck did it fix? Is there a logfile?

Hehe... Settle Well, I uninstalled MSE (virus scanner) then ran the microsoft fix. It said it had successfully fixed problems. So that sounded good, I then tryed to activate windows, it worked, and then I ran windows update, that worked without errors also! Thanks so much Kaktussoft & Golden!

Glad you fixed it! Only thing I can think about is a wrong "hosts" file.
Please take a look at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
What is the modification date/time of file hosts? Other files in same folder have same date/time?
