Hi everybody,

I have a problem by the installation of windows 7. I put the DVD into the laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A 1667) and it starting to install windows 7. By the step, where I have to choose the partition for windows 7, I can not choose it, because the laptop is still "thinking" and I have to switch off my computer.
Before I started to install windows 7, I tested the memory (2 GB) but everything was all right.

It is important to know, If I want to setup windows xp or other linux systems (like Suse or Debian) I don't have a problem like that.

Please help me asap.

What do you mean by "the laptop is still thinking"? It may be a problem with the disk, do you recognize any visible scratches and instabilities within the surface of the disk?

The disk must be okay, because one of my friend tried to install windows 7 and it was okay. This is a new DVD, so on that surface are no scratches.

The laptop is still thinking, I mean, that the mouse cursor is busy but the memory doesn't work.

Disk Check didn't show me any problems with my winchester.

By this step, I waited more than 1 hour, but nothings happened.

The setup progress is still by that point: "where do you want to install windows 7?"

There is more likely problems with the system itself than on the disk. Have you tried installing Linux or Windows XP/Vista? If installing other OSes does work, this might be a problem with the disk itself or compatibility. Do you currently have an operating system installed on your hard drive?

The first operation system was windows xp on my laptop and as I tried to install it again, I didn't have that any problems. For two weeks, I already installed linux (opensuse) and with that installation, I did't have any problems too. At the moment is no operation system on my hard drive.

What do you mean, that it could be a problem with the compatibility?

How do you intend to activate Windows after it is installed?

This is an original Windows 7 DVD ,so I have an activation code. Why is it important?

It's important if we ask, or we would not ask.

Check for newer BIOS update. If none, reset BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Follow the steps given here to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Start with a fresh ISO burned using the MS tool given. If it fails try writing to flash stick as given to rule out installer.

Once installer is ruled out if problem persists wipe the HD first after testing it with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan. If your HD maker is not listed then use Seagate Seatools. After clearing the HD use the tool to wipe it with quick method.

If these fail report back all results including verbatim error messages.

Thanks, I'm going to try it!

Mission complete!

So, thank you guys, I could install windows 7 on my laptop! --> Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A1667 G.

The problem is, that you have to upgrade your BIOS for the version 1.7. However, this is not a Fuji product, this is an UNIWILL product, so you have to looking for the driver UNIWILL 1.7, upgrade your BIOS and after than you can install windows 7.
Caution: If you upgrade your BIOS for this version, your guarantee is goint to be useless.
