How to get Home Premium back?

So I somehow corrupted my old version of win 7 Hp that came preinstalled on this laptop. I borrowed my friends windows disk to reinstalled windows using the product key on the bottom of the laptop. But it turns out the disk is for ultimate and my key is for home premium. Right now I am using an unactivated version of ultimate. How do I get win 7 Hp back?

Are you paying attention to your other threads???

You download an ISO of Home Premium, burn it to DVD, install, and activate with your existing Product Key.

Or you can borrow a friend's Home Premium disk if it is exact same type as yours.

I assume you are unable to access the recovery partition on your hard drive and did not make recovery disks.

Well how do i use the recovery partition. I think I have one.

Do two things:

1: Consult your manual and see what it says about recovery. It's probably accessible from a menu during the boot process.

2: Post a screen shot here of your Windows Disk Management, if you can boot into Windows at all.

It's a Toshiba; I think Toshiba c655-S5505 per another post.

He had a legit Home Premium and then installed a friend's Ultimate. No recovery disks and it's unclear if he has a recovery partition left.

Hello, ethanzh.

I read your theard and bad news for you.

You can't "downgrade" from Ultimate to Home Premium. You can try, but you will get same error.

Only what you can do is to do Clean Install.
If you don't know I can recommend to you , gregrocker's Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. That is one very good tutorial for all who need help with this.

If I delete the partition which ultimate is install, and install home premium will that work? And if I get home premium back do I get all the built in toshiba stuff?

Please use the tutorial that Greg linked you to if you want Windows 7 Home Premium.

You will not get the Toshiba "stuff" using this method.

If you want the Toshiba factory restore and you don't have a Toshiba recovery disc you'll need to contact Toshiba and ask them to sell you one. The factory restore puts your computer back to its out-of-box state i.e. exactly how it was configured when it was first bought.

No, you won't.

However, if you use Greg's tutorial to successfully install Windows 7 Home Premium there's nothing to stop you going back to Toshiba support and downloading anything you need, such as Toshiba's keyboard drivers, which should give you the Fn option you want.

You have already installed Windows, which means the recovery partition will have been wiped.

Please use the tutorial that Greg gave you or order a Toshiba recovery disc.

I don't know how much plainer we can be.

If you continually choose to ignore advice you are being given you'll finish up with no help - trust me.

Even if the Toshiba recovery worked, and you then used your HP disk, you will then overwrite your Toshiba recovery installation.

I don't think the Toshiba recovery will work because you overwrote it when you used the Ultimate disc.

You can have Toshiba recovery if you order the disks and pay for them from Toshiba.

You can have a fresh install without Toshiba stuff by using the burned ISO--assuming you have your Home Premium Product Key.

You can't have both. Take your pick.

Okay I will use Grey's tutorial. One more thing. In this ultimate install and my previous vista install. None of my networking drivers were installed, and I can find the right ones from toshiba

I repeat, once you have installed Windows, you should be able to get any drivers you need either via Windows Updates or Toshiba support.
