I have just recently installed Windows 7 64 bit because I'm getting 6GB RAM coming in the mail soon and microsoft wouldn't let me get a free version of 64 bit vista, so i did a clean install of this. i did a clean install for 2 main reason 1 for getting more ram and 2 for fixing this BSOD i got when rendering in sony vegas. Now i get a completely different BSOD then before
Whenever i try to render any videos in sony vegas pro 9 i get a BSOD
it said something about clock interrupted:

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:

BCP4: 0000000000000001
OS Version: 6_1_7100

hi levelchaser and welcome to the forums.

i must warn you that users of this forum are not allowed to ask for links, nor provide links to, the rumoured RTM build, otherwise they will be banned.

i've just installed sony vegas pro 9 onto my 64bit 7600/16385, and it renders without problems.

have you tried un/reinstalling vegas and does the problem only occur with certain codecs or clips?

i've just been to the sony site, and a new patch seems to be available, 9.0a - try downloading that!

I'm going to try to re-install it i guess...even tho i just tried that last night.

if you "can't find" your key, i believe you get 28 days trial period - good luck, and i hope the update solves your problems.

Okay it turns out it had something to do with my HD video rendering settings...when i render in a crappy quality it's fine but now i have another problem....when i had windows media player 12 installed sony vegas wouldn't recognize any .mp3 audio files when i dragged and dropped them in or when i imported them through explorer..so i followed a guide online to install windows media player 11 because for some reason it won't let me uninstall or downgrade from windows media player 12...
now i can't open any of my .avi video files

can anybody tell me how to either install windows media player 11 succesfully or repair my windows media player 12 files? either one would be fine

thanks

If you click the Start Menu then 'Default Programs' followed by 'Set your default programs' you should have the option (when you click Media Player) to have that as the default player. This should restore any file associations relating to media player (plus the same can be done for other software).

Yeah that will probably help me out later on after i fix WMP12...because right now anything that involves it says "windows media player was not installed properly and needs to be re-installed"

I just need to figure out how to repair it or re install it because when i go to the microsoft website there is no DL for WMP12 and when i search for WMP for my os it says it can't find any

I'm still having this issue with inability to drag and drop avi files to Vegas 9 pro, 8, 7..
I'm running W7 7600.
Is system restore really the only way to fix it?

hi originaLnutta (are you a jungle artist? if so i enjoyed your gigs in the mid nineties),

welcome to sevenforums, i'm sure you'll enjoy your stay.

the above posts about system restore fixed issues with the poster's windows media player, not sony vegas. they had different problems to you.

all system restore does is to revert your system back to a previous state - so, for example, if you knew that vegas was working fine a month ago, but since then various software installs and updates managed to break it, you can restore your system to how it was last month, so vegas (and the rest of your system) will work like it used to.

i suspect your problem with handling avi files has something to do with codecs - have you installed any?

hey, mickey
i'm not a jungle artist and I doubt there's any by that name, cause it's actually a track produced by UK Apache and Shy FX called "original nuttah". but yeah, I did enjoy that track a LOT.

as for the codecs, I have the latest K-lite codec pack installed. I browsed a whole lot of forums yesterday and it was an amazing revelation to me when I read something like "hey, man, vegas never supported AVI, only WMV, MP4, MOV, MPEG.."
it pretty much shocking, cause I've been using Vegas for like 3 years so far and I always worked with avi files..

I then did a bit of experiment. I took a raw avi file (raw = 224'000 kbps, recorded with Fraps) and tried to drop it on vegas, which I failed. then I recoded it to another avi file but a more compressed one: @ 16'000 kbit. suddenly vegas accepted it, but looking at the preview window while playing one single video track with no effects or filters whatsoever, I realized the playback at lo-res was SO slow and spiky.. my pc specs are out of the question, since it's a monster.

i don't really hope someone will help me out, i just wanna now if the problem is my new OS.

tnx

i don't know if this helps, and you probably already know, but avi is not a codec - it's merely a file format or container - avi's can be encoded using a myriad of codecs, the most popular being divx or xvid (recently the superior x264 has appeared, and is slowly taking over).

so some avis may import successfully into vegas, but other avis using different codecs may give you trouble.

fraps uses its own high quality codec for capturing game footage (usually), and as this codec is installed with the fraps software, then vegas should not have any problem with fraps avis!

i've only recently reinstalled windows in the last couple of days, and i haven't got round to installing vegas yet - but it was working fine with previous builds of win 7.

as far as codecs go, personally i only install ffdshow, this does everything that i want - however, a lot of people on this forum swear by shark007's codecs - the creator of which is occasionally on this forum.
